Job Summary:
The Warehouse Receiver is responsible for accurate receiving, verification, documentation, and routing of incoming parts, materials, and equipment. This role serves as the primary point of ownership for incoming material, helping ensure shipments are identified, discrepancies are communicated, and material reaches the correct inventory, job, staging, or operational destination.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Receiving & Verification
- Receive and unload incoming freight, deliveries, and transfers.
- Inspect incoming material for visible damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
- Verify incoming material against available purchase orders, packing slips, job information, or transfer documentation.
- Confirm quantities and material information before completing the receiving process.
- Identify and escalate shipments that arrive without adequate PO, job, or destination information.
Material Routing & Communication
- Determine the appropriate next destination for received material, including inventory, job material, staging, transfers, returns, or other designated locations.
- Clearly identify material before it is placed into warehouse or staging areas.
- Document and communicate damaged, incorrect, short, or questionable shipments to the appropriate contact.
- Maintain accurate delivery and receiving tracking information using established company tools.
- Communicate completed receiving, material availability, and unresolved exceptions to the appropriate teams.
Warehouse Support
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely.
- Assist with loading and unloading trailers, inventory counts, and warehouse organization as receiving workload allows.
- Maintain clean and organized receiving and staging areas and perform other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe work practices, and prompt reporting of hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous warehouse, receiving, inventory, or material-handling experience preferred.
- Ability to read purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping documentation.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn company receiving and tracking systems.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify missing or conflicting information.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and ask for clarification when needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to carry and lift heavy equipment (up to 100 pounds)
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching required
- Ability to work in varying environments, including indoor and outdoor conditions, exposure to seasonal temperatures, and moderate to high noise levels in mechanical rooms, construction sites, and active work areas.
- Comfortable working in tight spaces, on ladders, and at elevated heights when needed
- Manual dexterity required for use of tools and equipment
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures
- Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods during a typical workday
- Visual and auditory ability to safely perform job duties and communicate effectively in the field
