Job Summary

The Traveling Data Center Project Manager is responsible for the full life-cycle management of data center and network infrastructure projects, including preconstruction planning, resource coordination, procurement, installation, budget tracking, quality assurance, and project closeout. This position oversees project schedules, field activities, subcontractors, vendors, financial performance, and customer communication to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. The Project Manager serves as a key point of contact between customers, field teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders while proactively managing risks, changes, and project requirements. This role requires travel to project sites and a strong understanding of voice, data, fiber, wireless, and low voltage infrastructure installations.

Job Responsibilities




  • Manage assigned data center and network infrastructure projects throughout the complete project life cycle.



  • Coordinate project activities across preconstruction, planning, delivery, installation, closeout, and post-installation phases.



  • Develop and monitor project plans, schedules, milestones, budgets, and resource requirements.



  • Coordinate materials purchasing, delivery, inventory, and other project procurement activities.



  • Monitor project risks and implement proactive and corrective actions as necessary.



  • Manage change control processes and coordinate change orders.



  • Direct and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, field teams, and other project stakeholders to ensure timely, high-quality execution.



  • Maintain professional communication with customers and serve as a primary point of contact throughout project delivery.



  • Monitor and support quality assurance processes during all phases of each project.



  • Ensure project documentation and system data are complete, accurate, and current.



  • Review and align purchase orders, contracts, proposals, project financials, and other applicable contract documents.



  • Establish and maintain accurate project billing schedules.



  • Perform weekly reviews of project and field budget trackers, project metrics, invoices, pending awards, accounts receivable, and project dates.



  • Identify additional opportunities to support customer requirements involving network infrastructure, audiovisual, security, wireless, and distributed antenna system solutions.



  • Participate effectively as an independent Project Manager or as a member of a larger project management team.



  • Maintain dependable, timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.



  • Support continuous improvement of project delivery processes, customer service, and overall project performance.




Job Requirements




  • 5-10 years of relevant project management experience, preferably supporting data center, telecommunications, low voltage, or network infrastructure projects.



  • Demonstrated knowledge of voice, data, fiber, and wireless infrastructure installation projects.



  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, change control, and closeout.



  • Experience coordinating subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and customer stakeholders.



  • Ability to manage multiple project priorities while maintaining schedules, budgets, documentation, and quality standards.



  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.



  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.



  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional and responsive customer service.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.



  • College degree or associate degree preferred.



  • Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI certification, or equivalent project management credential preferred.



  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification preferred but not required.



  • Ability to travel to project and customer sites as required.



  • Ability to stand and walk throughout active project and job sites.
