Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to read work instructions, packing lists, shipping documents, and measurements accurately.
- Basic math skills required, including measuring, calculating dimensions, and material quantities.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience building, repairing, or maintaining wooden structures, crates, skids, pallets, or other carpentry-related projects.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools, including saws, drills, planers, sanders, and routers.
- Forklift operating experience required.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
- Attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to lift, carry, move, and position wood materials, crates, and shipping components throughout the shift.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and measuring.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and woodworking equipment.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing, warehouse, and shipping environment.
- Ability to use hand and power tools for extended periods.
Job Duties
- Build custom wooden crates, boxes, skids, and shipping containers for domestic and international shipments.
- Measure materials and calculate dimensions to construct shipping containers according to specifications.
- Select appropriate packing materials, bracing, and blocking methods to protect equipment and prevent damage during transportation.
- Operate woodworking equipment, including saws, drill presses, planers, sanders, and routers.
- Review packing lists to ensure all required parts, components, and materials are included before shipment.
- Maintain wood inventory and coordinate orders for lumber, tools, and supplies as needed.
- Apply shipping labels and required markings to crates and heat-treated wood used for international shipments.
- Assist with loading and unloading shipments using forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
- Support receiving, shipping, customer service, and other departments as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company safety procedures.
