Education Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred. Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen procedures preferred. Ability to follow recipes, food preparation instructions, and workplace safety guidelines. Experience Requirements Previous experience in food service, cafeteria, restaurant, dining hall, kitchen, or food preparation environments preferred. Knowledge of food handling, food safety, and sanitation practices is a plus. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to cleanliness and food quality. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced food service environment. Physical Capabilities Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying of food products and supplies up to 30 pounds. Comfortable working in kitchen, cafeteria, and refrigerated food storage areas. Manual dexterity to safely operate kitchen tools, utensils, and food preparation equipment. Ability to maintain productivity during busy meal service periods. Job Duties Prepare fresh fruits, vegetables, salads, and other cold food items according to recipes and food safety standards. Wash, cut, chop, portion, and organize ingredients for daily meal service. Set up, stock, and maintain salad bars and cold food stations before and during meal periods. Monitor food levels and replenish products as needed to ensure a well-stocked serving area. Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products to maintain freshness and quality. Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, kitchen equipment, serving stations, and utensils. Follow all food safety regulations, sanitation procedures, and health department guidelines. Assist with receiving, stocking, and inventory rotation of food and kitchen supplies. Provide friendly, professional customer service to students, faculty, staff, and guests. Support cafeteria and kitchen operations by assisting with additional food preparation and service duties as assigned.
