Utility Maintenance Worker I

The City of Firebaugh is accepting applications for the position of Utility Maintenance Worker I. The successful candidate will perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and operational duties related to the City's water distribution, sewer collection, streets, parks, and public facilities.
Salary
Fiscal Year 20262027 (3.5% Increase)
- Hourly: $19.96 $26.74
- Monthly: $3,458 $4,635
- Annual: $41,506 $55,622
Required Qualifications
- Water & Sewer Distribution Grade I Certificate (required; must be obtained within an agreed time schedule) Ability to comply with all City and CAL-OSHA safety rules and regulations
- Ability to wear and properly maintain City-issued uniforms and personal protective equipment High School Diploma or equivalent and California Drivers License required.
Essential Job Duties
- Assist in the maintenance, repair, and operation of the City's water distribution and sewer collection systems. Perform routine public works maintenance including streets, facilities, landscaping, and grounds maintenance. Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment.
- Inspect utility system components, identify deficiencies, and report repair needs.
- Assist with reading, repairing, replacing, and maintaining water meters.
- Clean, clear, and maintain pipelines, valves, fire hydrants, and related utility infrastructure. Respond to customer service requests, emergency situations, and scheduled after-hours assignments. Maintain accurate records, work logs, and reports.
- Follow all City and CAL-OSHA safety procedures while using City-issued uniforms and protective equipment. Provide courteous and professional customer service while interacting with residents, contractors, and City staff.
