The Environmental Manageris responsible forensuring the location meets its environmental permit compliance responsibilities, manages the plant's pollution control scrubber andwaste wateroperations, ensures boiler operations are compliant with state and company policy, and improves the facility's environmental performance within the community.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintains staff and location in compliance with all Company, State or Federal OSHA Safety Policies and Practices.
  • Provides supervision to production operators in reference to Safe Boiler operations, Wastewater treatment, and Air Treatment equipment.
  • Leads, trains, and implements Standard Operating Procedures for plant environmental and utility systems, including air pollution control, steam generation, wastewater pretreatment, lagoon operations, and Land Application System.
  • Develops, assigns, and implements CIP schedules of scrubbers and associated equipment taking production activities into account.
  • Collects and analyzes daily environmental data to make operating recommendations to plant management to ensure performance of pollution control and treatment equipment.
  • Prepares state and federal environmentalpermitrelated submittals for General Manager.
  • Ensures facility is operating withing the Company's environmental policies.
  • Comfortable and competent working and leading staff in afast pacedenvironment.
  • Working off shift (night, weekend, or holiday) hours for extended periods as plant productionneeddictates.
  • Forecastsneeds, sources through competitive bids, andmaintainsappropriate spareparts inventory.
  • Proficient andis able toprovide or source technical guidance inwaste waterlagoons, VOC scrubbers, and land applicationsystem. (i.e.recognizing and troubleshooting lagoon operations, Air treatmentcondensersand scrubbers (Water Shell/ Tube and Air/ Air, Packed Bed Scrubbers,Venturi'sand RTO scrubbers)
  • Evaluates and decides using technical specifications provided on equipment data sheets to base performance decisions.
  • Responsible for training new personnel on Company safety procedures and safe operating standardsin accordance withOSHA.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Wastewater Operator Certification (GA) or ability to obtain require certification.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental systems, equipment, and operating procedures.
  • Proficiency with CMMS and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Prior rendering, agricultural, or industrial experience.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems and preventative/predictive maintenance practices.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and multiple projects or priorities.
  • Strong problem solving skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Frequently exposed to high noise levels, strong odors, varying temperatures, electrical hazards, chemicals, and biohazardous conditions.
  • Requires prolonged sitting and movement throughout office/work locations, as well as occasional use of computers and office equipment.
  • Frequently requires sitting, walking, computer/equipment use, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing or balancing.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and identify potential workplace hazards.
  • Requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs.
