Field Decommission Technician Lead

As a Lead Field Decommission Technician, you'll lead field crews in the safe dismantling, removal, and processing of electrical equipment at customer sites across the country. This hands-on leadership role combines technical expertise, equipment operation, crew coordination, and customer service. You'll help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company, customer, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

• Lead and oversee field decommissioning crews during the dismantling, removal, processing, and handling of electrical equipment, materials, and infrastructure at customer sites.
• Assign and coordinate daily work activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to established schedules.
• Provide hands-on direction and training to technicians and other field personnel on proper work methods, equipment operation, safety procedures, and customer requirements.
• Dismantle, remove, and process electrical equipment, materials, and infrastructure using hand tools, pneumatic tools, plasma cutters, and other equipment.
• Operate and oversee the safe use of heavy machinery, including excavators, telehandlers, and similar equipment.
• Monitor work progress, identify issues or potential delays, and communicate project status, concerns, and resource needs to management.
• Serve as a primary field point of contact for customers, contractors, and site personnel, representing the Company professionally at all times.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company and customer safety requirements, including spill containment, proper material handling, PPE, and incident reporting.
• Conduct job-site safety meetings, reinforce safe work practices, and address unsafe conditions or behaviors as needed.
• Complete assigned work orders, inspection records, daily reports, project documentation, and other required paperwork accurately and on time.
• Maintain accountability for company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials used on assigned projects.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while ensuring the crew follows customer site requirements and company standards.
• Troubleshoot field issues and provide practical solutions to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.
• Work extended shifts while maintaining professionalism, productivity, and a strong commitment to safety.
• Travel up to 80% of the time, including frequent overnight and extended stays at customer locations across the country.
• Demonstrate adaptability and willingness to work at changing job sites and in varying environments.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team in fast-paced, physically demanding conditions.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical, industrial, electrical, construction, field service, equipment operation, decommissioning, or a related field, with demonstrated ability to lead or oversee field work.
• Prior experience leading crews, directing field personnel, or serving in a lead technician or similar capacity.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and work with a variety of tools, machinery, and equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate or learn to operate excavators, telehandlers, and other heavy equipment.
• Proficiency with hand, electric, and pneumatic tools; torch-cutting and rigging experience preferred.
• Ability to train, coach, and provide direction to technicians and other field personnel.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers, employees, contractors, and site personnel.
• Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and keep a crew focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
• Ability to work extended shifts and travel extensively, including frequent overnight stays.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to follow established procedures and make sound decisions in the field.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and adaptable with the ability to work independently and lead a team.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment, tools, electrical equipment, and other industrial hazards.
• Commitment to strict safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, and working in awkward positions.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to safely operate and work around heavy machinery and industrial equipment.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined, restricted, or difficult-to-access areas when required.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather and environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, noise, and uneven terrain.
• Ability to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when required.
• Ability to maintain the physical stamina necessary to safely perform job duties during extended shifts and frequent travel.
