Transportation Engineer - Intern

In our transportation group, we're seeking a confident and responsible limited-term transportation engineer intern who can assist with the development of transportation projects across Wisconsin, use design software to prepare engineering and design documents, and develop construction cost estimates for projects. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineering student to gain hands-on experience working on a variety of transportation infrastructure projects in local communities to large interstate projects. In this role, you will work both independently and in teams, solve problems, and learn and apply engineering principles to real-world projects.

What You'll Do

As a Transportation Engineering Intern, you will support transportation engineering projects through a combination of office and field assignments. Responsibilities may include:

• Work alongside experienced engineers on challenging transportation projects
• Use computer assisted programs like Autodesk Civil 3D to prepare engineering and design documents, computations, and quantity estimates
• Analyze and prepare reports, specifications, plans, schedules, studies, permits and other design documents for projects
• Assist with CAD-based design work and support the design and plan production of transportation-related projects
• Support roadway, site, and transportation design efforts through calculations, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates

• Participate in construction inspection, documentation, and field observation activities
• Assist with surveying and data collection efforts
• Performing additional duties and special projects as assigned

The successful candidate must have:

• Completed at least two semesters of college-level coursework in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management or related field from an accredited college or university

• A valid driver's license is required.
