Meijer offers an 11-week internship program that challenges interns to deliver innovative solutions to real projects that impact the business. Throughout the course of the internship experience, we deliver diverse personal and professional development opportunities that further develop skillsets that can be implemented both during and after the program. The internship program will allow for interaction with other interns and Meijer senior leaders.

What you will be doing as a Supply Chain (MCQI) - Continuous Improvement Intern:

This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience across Meijer's Supply Chain organization and may lead to consideration for future full-time opportunities, including the Meijer Supply Chain Rotational Program.

As an intern with Meijer Continuous Quality Improvement, or MCQI, you will work on projects focused on improving operational performance, supporting cross-functional initiatives, and identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency throughout the supply chain. Interns will apply data analysis, structured problem solving, and project-management practices to evaluate business processes, engage stakeholders, and develop actionable recommendations that improve service, productivity, cost, safety, or team member experience.

Because project needs vary from year to year, assignments may involve distribution operations, automation, material flow, process standardization, reporting, capital planning, or other continuous-improvement opportunities.

Past internship projects have included:

  • Conducting time studies and process analyses to identify opportunities to improve operational throughput.

  • Identifying bottlenecks and operational constraints within distribution processes.

  • Evaluating potential capital investment opportunities and developing supporting business cases.

  • Improving visibility and reporting through data analysis and dashboard development.

  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across distribution, transportation, and supply chain operations.

The intern may also get exposure to other activities of the function, including:

  • Distribution

  • Merchandising

  • Supply Chain

  • Manufacturing

  • Store Operations

  • Engineering

  • Finance

Qualifications:

  • Progress toward a Bachelor's degree in:Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Economics, or Engineering.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Analytics skills - familiarity with analytical tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar platforms is preferred.

  • Drive for results - has focus on the bottom line.

  • Customer focus - dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers.

  • Relationship Skills - can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external constituencies.

  • Communication Skills - conveys the right information in writing and verbally.

  • Problem Solving - Probes all fruitful sources for answers and looks beyond the obvious to assemble and interpret data.
