From coast to coast, Bamboo Health partners with all major retail pharmacy chains, 52 states and territories, 100% of the top 10 best hospitals and more than half of the country's largest health plans to improve more than 1 billion patient encounters annually. Join us in improving lives during pivotal care moments! Summary Bamboo Health's state behavioral health networks succeed or fail on adoption: states buy OpenBeds and Crisis, but the network only works if end users actually use it. The Director, Behavioral Health Network Engagement owns that outcome, leading a team of Network Engagement Leads that runs a documented, repeatable adoption motion instead of working from ambiguous direction, and turning account management's state-level priorities into specific execution at the network level. This is a judgment-first role: AI supports the team's operating infrastructure-including tracking, reporting, documentation, and first-pass synthesis-so your time is concentrated on coaching, escalations, judgment, and the relationships that move adoption. Success looks like providers engaged and referrals flowing, not meetings held or documents produced. What You'll Do
- Close out the team's remaining hiring decisions, including the final Network Engagement Lead seat and any contractor-to-FTE conversions, then get the full team ramped against one weekly operating cadence you run.
- Turn account management's state-level priorities and risk plans into specific, execute-against instructions for the network engagement team (named accounts, contact cadence, defined SLA), replacing ambiguous asks with a plan people can act on.
- Re-launch the hub-and-spoke adoption motion in priority states, owning spoke-side provider engagement and referral volume outright while partnering with account management on the hub relationships.
- Direct what the onboarding and adoption playbooks say and what gets tracked and let AI draft the documentation and maintain the system; your job is the design decision, not the build.
- Close execution gaps against account management's plans before they become an escalation and resolve priority or timeline disagreements directly with account management instead of routing them up.
- Diagnose what's blocking a stalled provider relationship or account, and decide the fix, using AI-surfaced activity patterns to know where to look, not to make the call for you.
- Represent network engagement directly with state agency partners and internal leadership, verifying and sharpening AI-drafted first-pass status reporting rather than treating it as finished.
What Success Looks Like... In 3 months...
- Key staffing and talent decisions for the Network Engagement team are complete, with the team positioned to execute effectively against its priorities.
- Every Network Engagement Lead is working from an AI-generated weekly account list, refined and prioritized by the leader, logged automatically in one shared tracker; prioritization escalations reaching your leadership are down at least 50% from your own first 30 days in the seat.
- A documented, step-by-step playbook exists for the spoke side of the hub-and-spoke motion, with the account management handoff spelled out, and it's live in one named priority state with provider engagement and referral volume moving against a defined baseline.
- Committed actions against account management's state-level plans are tracked automatically and completed on time, with you reviewing exceptions, not logging entries; priority or timeline disagreements with account management are resolved directly and are down at least 50% from your first 30 days.
- Opportunities to strengthen how Network Engagement Lead performance is measured and rewarded have been identified and implemented in partnership with key stakeholders.
In 6 months...
- The spoke-side engagement motion is running in multiple priority states, not just the first one, with referral volume trending up state over state.
- The onboarding and adoption playbooks are the default way new Network Engagement Leads ramp, and the tracking system runs on AI rather than manual updates.
- Account management and state agency partners route priority-setting and execution questions directly to you.
In 12 months...
- Network engagement is the trusted execution partner behind account management's state strategy across the full portfolio of prioritized states.
- The hub-and-spoke motion runs with discipline as the default operating model, not a proven idea revived for one pilot.
- The team operates with clear expectations, documented accountability, and consistent follow-through, reflected in strong retention and positive feedback from account management and state partners.
- Tracking, reporting, documentation, and first-pass synthesis are AI-supported and largely automated; your time goes to coaching, escalations, judgment, and the relationships that move adoption.
What You Need
- 5+ years leading a team in a customer-facing, revenue-adjacent function (implementation, customer success, account or network management, or similar), with a track record of turning ambiguous direction into specific, execute-against plans for the people you lead.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience partnering with a separate revenue-owning function to translate their strategy into your team's execution, including resolving priority or timeline disagreements without escalating past your peers.
- Demonstrated ability to confidently own people decisions, hiring, conversion, performance, without waiting for consensus, and holds the team to a documented weekly cadence.
- Experience diagnosing why a repeatable motion stalled and deciding what must change before relaunching it, not hand-building the documentation.
- Fluency working alongside AI tools for tracking, reporting, and documentation: this is a baseline expectation, not a differentiator. You're expected to direct what gets built and verify it, not build it by hand.
- Deep operating knowledge of behavioral health delivery systems and state Medicaid or crisis-response programs, sharp enough to tell a real state-priority signal from noise.
- A track record of holding your ground in a negotiation with someone more senior than you and walking away with the relationship intact, not just surviving the conversation.
- A forward-thinking, curious mindset with an openness to experimenting with new technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and creativity in designing solutions.
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth, and rapidly evolving environments.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote-first environment, ensuring high-quality virtual interactions with minimal distractions.
- The ability to travel periodically for work.
