Job Title: Food Safety & Quality Tech
Classification: Full-Time/Hourly
Salary Range: $26.00 hourly
Reports to: FSQ Scientist
Date of Opening: August 2026

Job Description
The Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Clerk/Tech supports food safety and quality assurance operations by maintaining accurate records, monitoring compliance with GMP, HACCP, and sanitation requirements, assisting with inspections and audits, and ensuring documentation, inventory, and quality control processes are completed accurately and efficiently to support safe and compliant production operations.

Essential Functions
* Assist the FSQ team with daily food safety and quality assurance activities.
* Complete and maintain food safety and quality records accurately and on time.
* Perform routine checks of production areas for GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and sanitation compliance.
* Collect and organize products, ingredients, and environmental samples as directed.
* Monitor and record production data, including temperatures, weights, and other quality parameters.
* Verify that production paperwork, labels, and batch records are complete and accurate.
* Assist with document control, filing, and maintaining FSQ records in accordance with company procedures.
* Support product hold, release, and traceability documentation under the guidance of FSQ Technicians or Supervisors.
* Notify the FSQ Technician or Supervisor of any food safety, quality, or regulatory concerns observed during routine inspections.
* Assist with calibration logs, sanitation verification records, and pre-operational inspection documentation.
* Help prepare materials and records for internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
* Maintain cleanliness and organization of the FSQ supplies and work areas.
* Maintain inventory of product labels and FSQ supplies; monitor stock and notify the appropriate personnel when replenishment is needed.
* Receive, organize, and stock FSQ supplies and ensure inventory is stored in a clean and orderly manner.
* Follow all company food safety, quality, GMP, HACCP, and employee safety policies.
* Knowledge of internal policies and procedures.
* Competent in working independently within the area.
* Follow established rules of each unit for entry to building and work areas, properly attired and in compliance with HACCP guidelines for personal hygiene and observe security precautions as mandated by unit management.
* Other duties assigned by Unit FSQ Manager and/or Corporate Quality Assurance

Skills and Qualifications
* Experience as a Food Safety & Quality Clerk/Tech or in a similar clerical role.
* Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SOPs, and food industry quality and sanitation standards preferred.
* Strong attention to detail, organizational, and multitasking skills.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
* Proficient in English (written and verbal); bilingual skills preferred.
* Self-motivated, dependable, and results-driven.
* Team-oriented with a strong commitment to attendance, punctuality, and workplace safety.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This position is in a food manufacturing facility and involves working in areas that may be cold, hot, humid, or noisy. The environment includes exposure to strong food odors, allergens, and potentially working with equipment. Employees may need to follow strict sanitation and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Work may take place on wet or slippery surfaces.

Physical Demands
* Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, often on concrete or other hard surfaces.
* Lifting/Carrying: Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 lbs. (occasionally more with assistance or equipment).
* Repetitive Motions: Use of hands and arms for repetitive tasks such as packing, sorting, or operating machinery.
* Sensory Requirements: Must be able to evaluate food products, detect odors, and visually inspect food for quality and safety.
* Reaching/Bending: Frequent reaching overhead, bending, stooping, and crouching throughout the shift.
* Manual Dexterity: Use of fine motor skills for tasks requiring precision and coordination, such as operating controls or using smaller tools.
* Visual Requirements: Ability to visually inspect products, labels, or equipment for quality and safety standards.
* Auditory Requirements: Ability to hear alarms, machine sounds, and verbal communication in a noisy environment.
* Protective Equipment: Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include but not be limited to hairnets, gloves, masks, and/or safety shoes, as required by food safety standards and warehouse protocol.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Standard hours and days of work may vary based on production schedules and operational needs, including flight schedules. Evening, weekends, and holiday work may be required, as well as occasional overtime.
