A reasonable estimate for this position is $73,817-$207,711. Application Window Open date: September 8, 2026 Next review date: Sunday, Oct 11, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Wednesday, Jun 30, 2027 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering seeks to recruit a pool of part-time Temporary Lecturers to teach undergraduate courses starting in the 2026-27 Academic Year. These positions are dependent upon the instructional needs. Salary and appointment level are commensurate with experience. Actual salary is based on percentage of appointment: One four-unit course per quarter is equivalent to 33% appointment. Appointments are contingent on instructional needs. These positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Appointment Date: Several appointments may be made each year. A selected candidate may be assigned only one course in any quarter. Service dates are: Fall, Winter, and Spring Candidates must have a PhD, or equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, and have demonstrated teaching experience. The successful candidate is expected to be capable of teaching at least three of the courses in the undergraduate Mechanical Engineering (EME) and Aerospace Science and Engineering (EAE) curricula. Criteria for appointment and reappointment will be evidence of teaching excellence (or, for first-time, relatively inexperienced candidates, the potential for excellence) in terms of the ability to present course material effectively, e.g., stimulating interest in and critical thought regarding the subject matter. Expertise in the subject matter will be evaluated based on the candidates' academic training, publications, professional experience, external recommendation letters, and prior achievement in teaching. Quality of teaching will be assessed based on student evaluations. Qualifications Basic qualifications
