Position Details About the University of Colorado - Denver Located in the Haidian District of Beijing, International College Beijing (ICB) is an international partnership between China Agricultural University (CAU) and the University of Colorado Denver that offers complete undergraduate programs in Economics and Communication. All courses are administered and taught by CU Denver faculty in English, and the degree earned is awarded by CU Denver. The ICB program offers a thriving and collegial environment that strives to embody the best promises of international education. What this position offers: initial airline ticket to Beijing is covered by the university and a $2,500 moving allowance is provided, payable once you start. After the initial ticket, an additional allowance is provided to purchase tickets to and from Beijing. Employees receive generous health benefits through Blue Cross Blue Shield with access to top private, English-speaking clinics in Beijing and minimal out-of-pocket costs. U.S. citizens may further qualify for a 100% return of all paid state and federal income taxes. Housing options include free guesthouse apartments (inclusive of all utilities) with private rooms, private showers, shared laundry and kitchen, as well as a gym; or heavily subsidized off-campus housing (within 200ft of campus) that offers spacious 3-bedroom, 2-bath apartments, with a sunroom and city views at higher levels of accommodation. All housing has free maintenance and upkeep. China Agricultural University, whose campus ICB is located on, is nationally famous for its outstanding food offerings - this includes multiple canteens and food vendors across campus that offer highly subsidized, delicious and nutritious food, including a Halal restaurant. At ICB, semesters are 12 to 14 weeks long; semester start dates are based on the lunar calendar with fall semesters beginning early to mid-September, and spring semesters beginning mid-February to early March. Summar and Winter semester teaching may be available for additional pay. Communication courses are offered Mon-Thurs, with no classes on Fridays, which offers opportunities to explore Beijing and its surroundings. As an ancient and modern city, Beijing offers all the amenities of a major U.S. or international city. It has excellent public transportation (including subway, highspeed rail, low-cost taxis, and two major airports) that make getting around town and travel convenient. ICB also provides faculty with professional development funds towards research and/or pedagogy, and offers free Chinese language courses. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire. The University does not have direct authority to hire Chinese citizens working in China. Faculty hired to teach at ICB must be able to meet the requirements to obtain the Z Visa to work in China (http://english.gov.cn/services/workinchina/). Our understanding of these requirements includes: prior to the position start date, international (non-Chinese) candidates must hold their Master's degree or above and have worked full-time for at least two years in a relevant area after receiving their Bachelor's degree, or begin their appointment at ICB within 12 months of obtaining their Ph.D. Under these Chinese rules, the maximum age of candidates seeking a work Visa is 59.
