Senior Statistical Data Analyst - TBICOE

HJF is seeking a Senior Statistical Data Analyst for coordinating and assuring integrity of all data/data systems associated with TBICoE's clinical and operational research activities. This position will ensure compliance with local, state, and/or federal regulatory requirements for human subject research and will participate in collection, preparation, analysis, and interpretation of data and will provide technical reports and summaries. The incumbent will assist in the development/design of research data platforms for data analyses in support of TBICoE's research efforts. The incumbent may suggest and provide metrics on TBI gaps, as well as assessment, review, and analysis of portfolio.

This position will be in support of the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) in Silver Spring, MD. TBICoE is a branch of the Research Support Division in the Research and Engineering Directorate (R&E) of the Defense Health Agency (DHA). DHA is a Federal Program within the Department of Defense (DoD). TBICoE, known previously as the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC), has been congressionally mandated since 1992 and is currently a matrixed research, dissemination, and knowledge translation program, supporting warfighter brain health and readiness by advancing the traumatic brain injury state of the science and clinical standards.

TBICoE's mission to support the warfighter is executed through subject matter experts embedded across DHA facilities with expertise in TBI clinical research investigations, surveillance, clinical tool development and training, cognitive monitoring and assessment, and dissemination of TBI tools, products, and education/training materials to DoD medical personnel, service members, including Guard, Reserve, and operational medics/corpsmen, veterans with TBI, and families/caregivers of the warfighter.

• Perform data collection, preparation and analysis activities and statistical support to TBICoE's research mission.
• May serve as a clinical research project lead, SME, or support as directed by TBICoE leadership.
• Performs data collection, statistical analyses, power analyses, data quality checks and applicable technical/methodological consultations as needed to support TBICoE research and assists in the preparation of any resulting proposals, protocols, manuscripts, posters, or presentations.
• Maintains TBICoE clinical research data/databases, ensures reliable data quality in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Applies advanced statistical methodologies in solving complex research questions related to TBICoE's requirements-driven research efforts.
• Disseminates research results through presentations to scientific and professional groups and through publications in scientific and professional journals.
• Attends and participates in scholarly, academic and scientific meetings/conferences related to military TBI, warfighter brain health, and related topics. When requested, disseminates pertinent information obtained from conference attendance in relevant TBICoE forums to disseminate scientific developments in brain health and TBI.
• May serve as an Investigator on TBICoE research protocols.
• Assists TBICoE HQ with scientific/programmatic review of biostatistical aspects of clinical research investigations at TBICoE.
• Provides ongoing SME consultation, advice, and technical expertise on data analysis and statistical analysis assistance to TBICoE investigators.
• Prepares requests for actions/proposals to include assisting with internal TBICoE scientific content and/or external grant proposal applications and their associated documentations and requirements.
• Facilitates the flow and approval processes for relevant projects as needed or requested.
• Interfaces with TBICoE investigators as well as other DoD and non-DoD government agencies as directed by TBICoE leadership.

Education and Experience

• Master's degree in Biostatistics, health sciences research, bioinformatics, computer science, information system management or a related statistical/scientific field required.
• Must complete CITI/ HIPAA training.
• 4-6 years of experience with TBI clinical research data analysis, statistical consultation related to human subject's research is required. Prior experience within the DoD/VA systems of care preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of system analysis and design, SQL, data upload and statistical data set creation for data analysis; experience with relational databases; excellent communication skills.
• Must adhere to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy.
• Knowledge of standard qualitative and quantitative data collection, cleaning and analysis techniques. Advanced ability to use SPSS, SAS, or other statistical packages and spreadsheets, including writing of syntax/formulas, manipulation of data, analyzing data, creation of output and use of other relevant Microsoft Office Suite products
• May require US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.

Physical Capabilities

• Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Work Environment

• Set in an Office, Clinic and hospital environment. May encounter patients who are confused, agitated or abusive.

Compensation

• The annual salary range for this position is $77,600-$89,300. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
