HJF is seeking a Project Analyst (Research) to provide TBICoE with research analytic support to various research projects, assisting in developing, reviewing, maintaining, and coordinating environmental scans and literature reviews on scientific developments in TBI research, emerging brain health technology, and blast research initiatives. Assists in the flow and facilitation of essential research information across TBICoE stakeholders. Provides background research, literature searches and support on literature reviews, research reviews, information papers, EXSUMS, evidence briefs, abstracts, presentations, manuscripts, podcasts, infographics, fact sheets, and gathering data for "taskers". Assists in the development of various research databases and tracking spreadsheets. Demonstrates clear understanding of clinical research procedures and methodologies.

This position will be in support of the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) in Silver Spring, MD. TBICoE is a branch of the Research Support Division in the Research and Engineering Directorate (R&E) of the Defense Health Agency (DHA). DHA is a Federal Program within the Department of Defense (DoD). TBICoE, known previously as the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC), has been congressionally mandated since 1992 and is currently a matrixed research, dissemination, and knowledge translation program, supporting warfighter brain health and readiness by advancing the traumatic brain injury state of the science and clinical standards.

TBICoE's mission to support the warfighter is executed through subject matter experts embedded across DHA facilities with expertise in TBI clinical research investigations, surveillance, clinical tool development and training, cognitive monitoring and assessment, and dissemination of TBI tools, products, and education/training materials to DoD medical personnel, service members, including Guard, Reserve, and operational medics/corpsmen, veterans with TBI, and families/caregivers of the warfighter.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine.   • Provides analytic support to TBICoE research projects and efforts.
  • Assists in conducting in depth literature searches and reviews specific to military TBI topics with particular emphasis on emerging technology and developments in TBI clinical research. Provides concise written reports and summaries.
  • Supports development of research abstracts, posters, presentations, reports, manuscripts and other novel methods of disseminating research across a variety of audiences and formats.
  • Supports development and maintenance of effective strategies to disseminate research data for maximum stakeholder interest, reach, and utility.
  • Supports development and maintenance of databases to effectively track emerging brain health technology; follows protocols to assess product quality and characteristics, including technology readiness levels, federal approvals, supportive research, and independent evaluation of its psychometric properties; participates in working group to gain SME input on emerging technology
  • Follows appropriate SOPs and best practices to track complex array of research products, methods, and dashboards
  • Attends and presents research findings at miliary-relevant conferences and meetings as appropriate.
  • Supports TBICoE's TBI research studies that are in alignment with DoD's identified TBI research gaps and priorities as well as ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies.
  • As requested by TBICoE leaderships, develops and/or maintains professional relationships with other stakeholders.
  • Prepares requests for actions/proposals to include assisting with grant proposal applications, their associated documentations and requirements. Facilitates the flow and approval processes for relevant projects as needed or requested. Follows SOPs and best practices in research translation efforts.
  • May generate reports and briefings as requested by TBICoE leadership.
  • Facilitates the collection of quality data from various studies or agencies.
  • Coordinates meetings as needed, for example, with the Service POCs and other agencies for TBI.
  • Works collaboratively with team members and functions independently as requested.
  • Assists in collection and summation of data for "taskers".
  • Attends and participates in scholarly, academic and scientific meetings/conferences related to military TBI. When requested, disseminates pertinent information obtained from conference attendance to ensure TBICoE remains apprised of scientific developments in brain health and TBI.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors in in public health, neuroscience, social sciences or related field required; Master's Degree preferred. Knowledge of research statistical programs such as SPSS/SAS.
  • Must complete CITI/ HIPAA training
  • 2-3 years of professional experience providing analytic support to senior scientists. Prior experience within the DoD/VA systems of care preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent oral, written and analytic skills required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and familiar with research statistical programs.
  • Must have experience preparing and analyzing data files for research abstracts, reports, manuscripts and presentations; authorship on publications in peer reviewed medical/ scientific journals and/or scientific conference/meeting presentation experience preferred. Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
  • Communicates effectively in writing and oral presentations.
  • Must adhere to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy.
  • May require US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office, clinical and hospital environment

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $52,800-$59,300. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
