HJF is seeking a Senior Research Program Analyst to provide TBICoE with research analytic support by assisting in developing, researching, maintaining and distributing environmental scans and literature reviews on emerging areas in TBI or brain health research, including novel technology and blast research initiatives. Assists in the management and facilitation of essential research information across TBI and brain health stakeholders. Provides background research, literature searches, and analytic information in the development of literature reviews, research reviews, information papers, evidence briefs, EXSUMS, abstracts, presentations, manuscripts, podcasts, reports, infographics, fact sheets, and responses to "taskers". Assists in the development of various research databases; participates in analysis and interpretation of data and with the preparation of technical reports, summaries and manuscripts. Demonstrates clear understanding of clinical research procedures and methodologies. Develops and/or maintains professional relationships with other stakeholders of TBI- related research activities.

This position will be in support of the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) in Silver Spring, MD. TBICoE is a branch of the Research Support Division in the Research and Engineering Directorate (R&E) of the Defense Health Agency (DHA). DHA is a Federal Program within the Department of Defense (DoD). TBICoE, known previously as the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC), has been congressionally mandated since 1992 and is currently a matrixed research, dissemination, and knowledge translation program, supporting warfighter brain health and readiness by advancing the traumatic brain injury state of the science and clinical standards.

TBICoE's mission to support the warfighter is executed through subject matter experts embedded across DHA facilities with expertise in TBI clinical research investigations, surveillance, clinical tool development and training, cognitive monitoring and assessment, and dissemination of TBI tools, products, and education/training materials to DoD medical personnel, service members, including Guard, Reserve, and operational medics/corpsmen, veterans with TBI, and families/caregivers of the warfighter.

• Provides high-level analytic support to TBICoE research efforts, including concisely and effectively summarizing wide-ranging topics in brain health and TBI across a variety of audiences and mediums.
• Conducts in depth literature searches and reviews specific to TBI related topics with particular emphasis on emerging technology and developments in TBI clinical research relevant to the warfighter. Provides clear and concise written reports and summaries for a variety of audiences from technical to lay.
• Participates in the development of research abstracts, posters, presentations, reports, and manuscripts.
• Develops effective strategies to disseminate research data for maximum stakeholder interest, reach, and utility.
• Develops and maintains databases to effectively track emerging brain health technology; develops protocols to assess product quality and characteristics, including technology readiness levels, federal approvals, supportive research, and independent evaluation of its psychometric properties; establishes working group to gain SME input on emerging technology.
• Develops appropriate SOPs and best practices to track complex array of research products, methods, and dashboards.
• Attends and participates in scholarly, academic and scientific meetings/conferences related to TBI. When requested, disseminates pertinent information obtained from conference attendance to ensure TBICoE remains apprised of scientific developments in brain health and TBI.
• Supports TBICoE's research studies that are in alignment with DoD's identified TBI research gaps and priorities as well as ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies.
• Develops and/or maintains professional relationships with other stakeholders.
• Prepares requests for actions/proposals to include assisting with internal TBICoE scientific content and/or external grant proposal applications, their associated documentation, and requirements. Facilitates the flow and approval processes for relevant projects as needed or requested.
• Independently generates reports and briefings as requested by TBICoE leadership.
• Facilitates the collection of quality data from various studies or agencies.
• Coordinates meetings as needed, for example, with the Service POCs and other agencies for TBI.
• Works collaboratively with team members and demonstrates capability working independently with little direction.
• The incumbent may assist in the development, reporting and analysis of study/ program performance with relevant metrics.
• Assists in collection and summation of data for "taskers".

Education and Experience

• Master's Degree required in public health, neuroscience, or related scientific discipline. Experience within research statistical programs such as SPSS/ SAS.
• Must complete CITI/ HIPAA training.
• 4-5 years of professional experience providing analytic support to senior scientists. Prior experience within the DoD/VA systems of care preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent oral, written and analytic skills required.
• Must have experience preparing and analyzing data files for research abstracts, reports, manuscripts and presentations; authorship on publications in peer reviewed medical/ scientific journals highly preferred.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
• Communicates effectively in writing and oral presentations.
• Knowledge related to program/ project improvement program evaluations, process improvements, improving quality, reducing costs and establishing appropriate process metrics and process controls desired.
• Must adhere to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy.
• The incumbent must be able to work comfortably with computer software, including Microsoft Office suite and other research-relevant software or data collection tools.
• May require US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.

Physical Capabilities

• Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment

• This position will take place primarily in an Office, clinical and hospital environment.

Compensation

• The annual salary range for this position is $61,00-$68,300. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
