911 Emergency Medical Technician EMT: San Diego, CA

911 EMT FULL-TIME Opportunity
$2,000.00 sign-on bonus with commitment

$22.00-$23.25 per hour

Position Summary:

Responds to 911 emergency calls and delivers high-quality patient care within the prescribed scope of practice, established protocols, and company policies. This position operates in a dynamic, high-acuity emergency medical services environment and works closely with fire personnel, paramedics, Critical Care Transport (CCT) RNs, law enforcement, and other public safety partners. 911 EMTs must be able to assess rapidly evolving situations, function effectively under pressure, and provide compassionate patient care during medical emergencies, traumatic incidents, and other time-sensitive responses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains thorough familiarity with treatment protocols, response requirements and quality assurance procedures in system in which assigned.
  • Maintains awareness of any and all changes in the system components and company policy.
  • Works collaboratively with fire personnel, Critical Care Transport (CCT) RNs, law enforcement, dispatch personnel, and hospital staff to ensure coordinated patient care and scene operations
  • Assist with patient assessment, treatment, packaging, movement, and transport during emergency responses while operating within EMT scope of practice and established protocols.
  • Operates a company vehicle in accordance with company policy and safe practices.
  • Demonstrates the ability to remain calm, professional, and effective in stressful, emotionally charged, and rapidly evolving situations.
  • Ensures that unit remains in a state of readiness in terms of mechanical reliability, medical supply and equipment, cleanliness and appearance standards.
  • Reports immediately to the Lead Paramedic any discrepancies in vehicle or equipment standards that could compromise the unit's ability to complete a call.
  • Maintains situational awareness and follows all safety procedures when operating at emergency scenes.
  • Participates in continuous training, quality improvement initiatives, and skills development to maintain readiness for emergency medical response operations.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and reliability in meeting the scheduling demands of high-volume 911 system, including rotating schedules, extended shifts, weekends, holidays, and other work hours necessary to maintain emergency response coverage.

Required Education/Certifications/Licensures:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Provide documentation of current enrollment in Paramedic school
  • CA Driver's License
  • CA Ambulance Driver's License
  • Medical Examiner's Certificate
  • State of California EMT License
  • EMT Certificate (San Diego County card)
  • BLS CPR Card (American Heart Associationonly)
  • Pass Physical Agility Test (PAT)

Experience:

  • Previous ambulance-based EMT experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with prior 911 EMS experience or experience working in a high-volume emergency response system are highly encouraged to apply.
