NOTICE OF COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION FOR

POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER

The St. Bernard Civil Service Commission is conducting a continuous competitive examination to establish an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer with the St. Bernard Safety Department.

The examination process consists of three parts: a written exam through National Testing Network, Inc.; an assessment exam; and an oral interview.

All candidates, unless applying as lateral transfer candidates as described below, must apply through the National Testing Network, take the Front Line National Exam at www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, complete the PHQ through their NTN candidate account, and submit all required documentation by the end of the day on October 30, 2026, to be considered. A minimum score of 70% on the Front Line exam is required to move forward in the examination process. Applicants who are at least 21 years of age may apply to take the examination. No applicant shall be eligible for appointment before their twenty-first (21st) birthday or after their forty-first (41st) birthday, unless they were originally appointed to another department before their forty-first (41st) birthday. Eligible candidates will be notified by email of the date of the physical agility test.

Lateral Transfers Only: Applicants may be exempt from the Front Line National Exam and physical agility test if they are OPOTA-certified, have two years of full-time experience with a municipal department, and have had no disciplinary action resulting in suspension or loss of pay within the last 12 months. Lateral transfer applicants must still submit an application, available at www.stbernard-oh.gov/266/Civil-Service-Commission. Completed applications must be emailed to hculbertson@stbernard-oh.gov or submitted in person to the Village Clerk at St. Bernard Village Hall, located at 110 Washington Ave, St. Bernard, OH 45217, along with any supporting documentation, including proof of certifications, degrees, and military duty, no later than October 30, 2026.
