The group you'll be a part of
You will be a key contributor to the WET Product Group, within the Engineering Operations Team, supporting Sabre 3D and Sabre products. The Engineering Operations Team reports to the WETS PG Engineering Department, so we are closely aligned with PG Engineering goals and objectives. We also work hand in hand with the Electrofill Product Management Team and GPS / Quality.Engineering Operations operates in a very dynamic environment and is deeply engaged in numerous PG deliverables and is central to the PG's success. You'll be part of a very interactive team that offers independent areas of ownership while working within a tightly collaborative small team environment. The team highly values and encourages creative thinking, flexibility, and continual improvement.
The impact you'll make
As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging. This Engineering Quality ME will have a direct and highly impactful influence on Engineering Quality.You will solve real-world problems, in a fast-paced environment, and provide solutions to internal and external groups. You will be involved in and directly contribute to highly impactful PG programs and projects. You will impact areas of direct concern to the customer.
What you'll do
  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for complex semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Have a high degree of autonomous ownership for driving engineering solutions and solving quality issues, across a highly varied array of mechanical modules within our product line.
  • Own projects that are highly visible and have direct, high impact on the customer.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation in accordance with Lam standards.
  • Perform engineering analysis (e.g., tolerance analysis, thermalmechanical considerations, structural integrity) and validation activities to support design decisions.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including Systems, Process, Electrical, Controls, Software, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure successful subsystem integration.
  • Support phasegate activities (Preliminary Design Review (PreDR), Detailed Design Review (DDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and Final Design Review (FDR)) by delivering assigned mechanical design milestones on schedule.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and failure analysis, contributing to Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and corrective action efforts.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain partners to ensure designs are manufacturable, serviceable, and costeffective.
Who we're looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience; or 3+ years with a Master's degree; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Solid foundation in mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience creating detailed mechanical designs using 3D CAD tools (e.g., Creo, NX).
  • Ability to read and interpret system requirements, drawings, and interface documentation.
  • Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.
  • Strong analytical problemsolving skills, attention to detail, andthe ability to drive clear design decisions within the engineering team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and technical presentation skills.
  • Ability to work productively in a collaborative, fastpaced environment.
  • Creative-thinking skills are very important.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment or other complex electromechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with wet processing, fluid handling and fluidic system design, thermal management, and chemicalcompatible mechanical design.
  • Exposure to New Product Introduction (NPI) development processes, phasegate reviews, or prototype builds.
  • Knowledge of Design for Excellence (DFx) principles (reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, safety).

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
