Automotive Mechanic

This role focuses on performing specialized upfitting, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of state vehicles. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:

• Vehicle Upfitting: Install specialized equipment such as cages, lighting, racks, decals, and storage systems
• Advanced Diagnosis: Evaluate mechanical and electronic components to identify needed repairs
• Inspection Work: Complete safety and emissions inspections and prepare related records
• Preventative Care: Perform tune-ups, fluid services, tire changes, and filter replacements
• System Repairs: Replace or repair suspension, brake, electrical, cooling, and engine components
• Road Response: Handle roadside maintenance requests and assist with snow plowing

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
• Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

• This position requires possession of a current and valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license.
• This position requires possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
• You must pass criminal history and background investigations if you do not have a current Pennsylvania State Police background on file.
