YOUR OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting Human Resource Specialist opportunity in our Leoti, KS office. In this highly impactful role, you will be a key member of the Human Resources Team. The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for executing and managing assigned functions within the scope of Human Resources, supporting approximately 200 employees across live operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the effective delivery of HR services and alignment with organizational goals through the administration of policies, procedures, and programs. Key responsibilities include recruitment and staffing, onboarding and orientation, employee relations, compensation and benefits administration, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws; elevates complex or sensitive matters to HR leadership.
  • Responds to routine employee and supervisor questions regarding HR processes, policies, benefits, and programs; provides guidance within established practices and refers matters requiring interpretation or approval.
  • Supports recruiting and staffing activities, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, candidate communication, pre-employment requirements, and hiring documentation.
  • Coordinates onboarding and new-employee orientation, including benefits information, required forms, policy acknowledgments, and follow-up activities.
  • Assists with routine employee relations matters, documents concerns accurately, and partners with HR leadership on investigations, corrective action, and other complex matters.
  • Maintains accurate and timely employee records and HRIS transactions related to hires, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, leaves, and separations.
  • Maintains employment eligibility, personnel, and other required records, including Form I-9 documentation, in accordance with retention, audit, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Supports benefits enrollment and responds to routine benefit questions; assists with short-term disability and applicable leave-of-absence programs, including FMLA, workers' compensation, and return-to-work coordination.
  • Prepares recurring and ad hoc HR reports, reviews data for accuracy, and supports audits and business decision-making within established timelines.
  • Supports employee engagement, retention, recognition, and HR communication initiatives in partnership with site leaders and the broader HR team.
  • Safeguards confidential employee, applicant, medical, and business information and shares information only with authorized individuals.
  • Builds effective working relationships and coordinates with supervisors, employees, HR leadership, and support teams across live operations.
  • Processes invoices and expense reports, maintains office mail and supplies, and assists with routine phone, internet, and office support needs.
  • Maintains professional knowledge through training, coaching, and review of relevant HR practices, systems, and regulatory updates.

  • Includes normal office environment as well as climate extremes found in all areas of operations.
  • Incumbent may be required to travel to company owned sites or other locations as needed.

Required Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more years of experience in human resources, recruiting, business administration, customer service, or a related field.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, including speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and use applicant tracking, HR information, and other business systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound and objective judgment, communicate effectively, and build productive working relationships.
  • Ability to organize work, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Coursework or an associate or bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with an applicant tracking system, HR information system, high-volume recruiting, or HR support in an agricultural, manufacturing, or multi-site environment


SCHEDULE - Primarily Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Flexibility for occasional early morning, evening, weekend, and overnight travel is required based on operational needs.
