The Painter Technician is responsible for all aspects of production painting in a shop environment, including repairing paint jobs, preparing surfaces for painting, removing parts not intended for paint, and controlling the factors that determine a successful finish. This position focuses on fleet vehicles, performing prepping duties such as sanding, scraping, painting, and decal placement. The Painter Technician also maintains painting supplies and equipment and completes general maintenance and body work on fleet vehicles as needed, and manages inventory and paperwork through the company's computer system. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and company standards.

Responsibilities of Position:

• Complete various painting projects including, but not limited to, various types of fleet vehicles/equipment
• Perform prepping duties including sanding, scraping, painting, and placing decals
• Mix and measure paint and primer to manufacturer specifications
• Maintain the truck pressure washer, including clean-up and inventorying supplies
• Ensure all safety decals are on completed jobs
• Perform general maintenance, body work, and vehicle repair on fleet vehicles as needed based on location
• Maintain painting and/or decal supplies
• Inspect completed repairs and paint work for proper coverage, adhesion, and overall quality
• Complete required inventory and paperwork utilizing computer system
• Utilize standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers
• Assist with other projects or areas of the shop as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, while performing all tasks in a safe manner, in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, OSHA, ANSI standards and company policies
• Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

• This position will not manage employees

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

• Ability to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Basic computer skills to account for own labor hours every day
• Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management
• Ability to understand and comply with safety requirements to maintain a safe environment for self and for others
• A self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to operate a paint booth

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

• 2-3 years experience in automotive accident repair, including panel repair and bodywork
• Paint sprayer experience preferred
• Fiberglass resin experience preferred
• Experience with surface preparation, sanding, filling, priming, and painting preferred

• Must be able to pass pulmonary test and respirator fit test

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

• Continuously lifting/carrying a max of 75 lbs; rarely up to 100 lbs
• Continuously pushing/pulling a max of 35 lbs; occasionally up to 75 lbs; rarely 100 lbs

• Frequently working outside; continuously in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions

• Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter

• Continuously stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling

• Continuously climbing and/or balancing

• Continuously walking; frequently standing; occasionally sitting

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Ability to travel between offices, as required
• Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver's license (if applicable)
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language
