Primary Responsibilities HDR's Roadway Engineer will: serve as a project manager or task leader for urban and rural roadway engineering projects of various sizes and complexity, coordinating the work of the design team through the design development and contract document phases of a project; prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules; prepare, design, or produce elements of contract plans, specifications, and estimates for transportation-related civil engineering projects using state, county, and city or other applicable standards, including Roadway Sections, Intersection Layout, Interchange Layout, Horizontal and Vertical Alignment, Right of Way Plans, Temporary Erosion Control Plans, Site Preparation Plans, Transportation Profiles, Retaining Wall Plans, Drainage Plans and Profiles, Utility Plans, Paving, Pavement Marking Plans, Signing Plans, and Traffic Control Plans; develop construction quantities and prepare project estimates; write reports and technical memorandums; coordinate with subconsultants and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget; work closely with the Area Manager, Transportation Business Group Manager, Transportation Program Manager, Section Managers, and multiple Project Managers for project reviews; implement project quality plans; and review work of and mentor junior engineers and technical staff as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 2 years of experience in roadway engineering. Required experience must include experience in: roadway, sidewalk, curb ramp, and driveway design and modeling; Maintenance of Traffic Plans; cost estimation and quantity analysis; Federal Highway Administration guidelines; Virginia Department of Transportation standards and specifications; MicroStation; OpenRoads; BlueBeam REVU. Must have passed Principles and Practice of Engineering examination for PE licensure or already hold Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
