Manufacturing Engineer I

Position Summary

Position Summary:
Under direct supervision, the Manufacturing Engineer I is an entry level role that assists with designing, implementing, and reviewing manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment. Supports the manufacture and assembly of new and existing Parker products typically in a single facility. Assists in developing improved manufacturing techniques, testing new systems and methods for efficiency, and planning assembly layouts to optimize production, quality, cost, and safety.

Responsibilities

Scope/ Supervision and Interaction:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities for direct or indirect reports.

Essential Functions:

• Manufacturing Process Flow - Assists in the planning and design of manufacturing processes to improve the manufacture and assembly of new and existing products. Helps determine equipment, and tooling needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product and quality specifications.
• Process Improvement - Assists in developing and implementing process improvement projects that focus on manufacturing efficiency, material yield, safety, automation opportunities, and cost.
• Engineering Design Support - Provides input to more senior engineers regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
• Regulatory Compliance - Helps ensure basic processes and procedures comply with regulations. Learns to apply frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
• Remediation - Investigates and makes recommendations for corrective action to ensure product quality and resolve quality issues.
• Manufacturing Routing & Maintenance Support - Develops and maintains manufacturing routings to support accurate production planning, labor standards, material flow, and process documentation.
• Costing & Quotation Support - Assists in developing manufacturing cost estimates and quotations by analyzing routings, labor requirements, material usage, tooling needs, and process assumptions to support accurate pricing and business decisions.
• Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in related Engineering field with 0-2 years of experience
• Knowledge and ability to apply core concepts of engineering
• Ability to apply a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving of basic to moderate scope and complexity
• Effectively apply continuous improvement methods to quality and manufacturing functions (e.g. pull systems, process mapping, JIT)
• Knowledge of data structures and database programming
• Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM systems or other computer aided manufacturing systems, in addition to standard business application software and/ or specialized data analysis tools
• Ability to use existing procedures to solve problems
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
• Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Ability to research and analyze data effectively and draw valid conclusions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, SAP, and web-browsers preferred
