Faculty Positions-Outpatient Psychiatrists

The George Washington University and Capital Medical Group ( CMG), formerly known as the Medical Faculty Associates, are seeking academic psychiatrists for full-time, regular faculty appointments in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.

These non-tenure-track positions, expected to start as early as Winter 2026, will be filled at a rank (Instructor/Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) and salary commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include conducting initial psychiatric evaluations, managing medications, and providing ongoing psychotherapy for adult patients. The psychiatrists are part of a collaborative team of academic psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatry residents, and primary care physicians. The psychiatrists will also participate in medical student education and residency training with the potential for participation in clinical research.

In addition, the psychiatrists will participate in the GWUH call coverage rotation for a 20-bed inpatient psychiatric unit, emergency room, and C/L service, including weeknight phone call and weekend/holiday call, which includes in-house rounding. The psychiatric service is covered in-house by psychiatry residents 24/7.

Applicants must be board-certified or eligible in General Psychiatry and license-eligible in the District of Columbia at the time of appointment.
