Surgical Technologist 1 Job Responsibilities:
Assists the circulating nurse in implementing the perioperative plan of care to include patient positioning, confirmation/preparation of the operative site, updating physician preference card, care of operative specimens, and room turnover. Performs and/or provides scrub assistance during procedures that reflect an awareness of anatomy, necessary principles, skills, supplies, and adequate knowledge base Identifies factors relative to the patient's age and developmental stage that must be considered during the surgical procedure. Assists with pulling cases and checks case carts for completeness, obtains supplies and equipment, and determines them to be in good working order before a case begins Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on the scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card. Exercises care in the operation and use of instruments/equipment/ and reports/follow the appropriate procedure for broken items.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High School or GED
- Experience: None required
- Licensure: Registered Surgical Technologist - Upon Start; Registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Surgical Technologist at time of hire
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: Level one (1) trauma experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: Surgical Technologist experience in Ortho, Trauma, Neuro, Robotics, Vascular preferred.
