Laboratory Technician - Physics

Arts & Science is seeking a talented Laboratory Technician to join the Department of Physics. This individual will operate specialized equipment to construct laboratory experiments demonstrating physical laws of nature. Recommend revisions to laboratory experiments for review and approval by others. Assist with laboratory experiments, as required. Perform tests to ensure that lab equipment is operating to standards. Install and configure hardware and software. Monitor instructional space, equipment storages, and repair shop facilities to ensure that standards are met and report any deviations.

Required Education:
High School diploma and some relevant technical training.

Preferred Education:
Relevant certification (Certificate of Fitness). Associate Degree in physical science or engineering.

Required Experience:
2-3 years of related experience at a university laboratory.

Preferred Experience:
Intermediate knowledge and understanding of the laws of physics.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to operate relevant lab equipment (e.g., function generators, power supplies, transducers, analog and digital circuits, mechanical apparatus and software simulation. and simple tools). Operating knowledge of standard office equipment.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $39.143. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
