The Department of Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) at the University of Missouri seeks applicants for the endowed Millsap Professorship at the rank of Professor with tenure (9-month appointment). The successful candidate will have a doctorate in Human Development and Family Science, or a related field, national reputation for excellence in scholarship, track record of external funding, and publications in top-tier journals. Candidates should have a scholarly emphasis in human development and family science with (a) methodological expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), data science, or machine learning with large data or (b) subject matter expertise on the impact of AI on individuals, couples, or families across the lifespan. Candidates must meet expectations to maintain or be promoted to "full" professor upon hire. Successful applicants will demonstrate scholarly activity consistent with the University's status as an AAU member and a "Very High" Research Productive institution.

The Millsap Professor will maintain an active and vibrant program of research that complements the research of current HDFS faculty, secure external funding to support such research efforts, and will pursue research at the intersection of human development and family science, data science, and/or emerging technologies. We are interested in researchers who pursue artificial intelligence (AI) as either a research topic or methodology. We welcome scholars who use data-intensive, computational, and AI-enabled approaches to advance the understanding of human development and family processes across the lifespan. We also welcome scholars who assess the use of AI and other technological advancements on individual development and family relationships across the lifespan.
The start date is August 2027. Salary is commensurate with experience, and the position includes ongoing supplemental monetary support for scholarly activities. This position will be housed in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at the University of Missouri - Columbia.

Responsibilities
* Maintain an active, externally funded program of research and scholarship.
* Teach courses related to their area of scholarship and consistent with the program and departmental instructional needs.
* Advise and provide research supervision to graduate students in Human Development and Family Science and serve on dissertation committees for students in the department.
* Provide leadership to the program, department, college, and university.

Minimum Qualifications:

• An earned doctorate in Human Development and Family Science or a related field.

Candidates will be evaluated on:
* Record of scholarly productivity and evidence of maintaining such scholarship.
* Success as principal investigator on externally-funded projects.
* Emphasis on data science and a content area within HDFS or related field.
* Ability to teach and mentor students
* Ability to work and engage with department, university, and community members.
* Is a "full" Professor or meets the requirements to be promoted to "full" Professor.
