The Opportunity

We are seeking a Student Intern to support construction and engineering projects through site observation, project coordination, cost estimating and project documentation activities. This opportunity will provide hands-on exposure to active construction environments, project planning, contractor coordination, safety and quality processes, and engineering project execution.

The Student Intern will gain practical experience working alongside engineers, planners and project professionals while contributing to the successful delivery of construction projects.

What you'll do

• Assist with construction site visits, observations and inspections to support project execution
• Support project requirement assessments, progress monitoring and safety and quality control activities
• Collaborate with planners, project coordinators and engineers on ongoing projects
• Participate in professional development sessions, leadership exposure opportunities and end-of-program presentations
• Assist with project cost estimating, subcontractor bid solicitation and bid analysis activities
• Perform material quantity takeoffs and review contractor cost proposals
• Prepare progress reports, change orders, requests for information (RFIs) and other project documentation
• Conduct research on construction methods, materials and industry practices

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Engineering or Construction-related degree program
• Completion of at least one academic term prior to the start of the work term in May 2027
• Returning to full-time studies immediately following the work term
• Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the work term

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Knowledge of project cost estimating and quantity takeoff processes
• Exposure to construction project documentation, including change orders and requests for information (RFIs)
• Experience working in construction, engineering, internship or co-op environments
• Willingness to work in active construction site environments
• Demonstrate a safety mindset, in a professional and personal setting
• Exhibit the TC Energy corporate values and incorporate them into work activities and initiatives
• Strong interpersonal and communicative skills to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment
• Commitment to building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to accurately analyze information and deal with ambiguity
• Experience working in a dynamic and challenging environment, and adaptable to changing priorities
• Ability to multi-task effectively, with strong organizational and time management skills
• Reflective and committed to continuous improvement and personal development
