About the team:

The FIS Legal team is comprised of 200+ attorneys and paraprofessionals worldwide who are a part of the Legal, Compliance & Corporate Affairs (LCCA) group, which includes 600+ professionals who serve as advisors to and partners with our businesses. Teams within our group work collaboratively with each other and with our business colleagues to solve problems in an effective and pragmatic manner. We view our role as one of strategic enablement and support for our business leaders in a variety of legal, compliance and corporate affairs matters. We strive to assist our businesses in meeting their objectives with sound, reasonable and well-considered legal counsel and compliance analysis and support.

What you will be doing:

  • Draft and negotiate high-impact complex commercial transactions with financial institutions for SaaS and Cloud based financial technology services.
  • Provide clear, pragmatic, and solution-oriented legal advice to enable business strategy while managing legal risk.
  • Lead the go-to-market legal activity for cutting edge financial technology offerings, including structuring, drafting, and negotiating legal agreements.
  • Leads pre-litigation dispute resolution with clients, partners, vendors, and more.
  • Supports regulatory compliance initiatives, ensuring the organization adheres to all relevant laws and regulations in the fintech sector.
  • Supports the integration of products, contracts, and processes of acquired institutions into FIS enterprise standards.
  • Administers risk assessments across legal processes and business operations, identifying potential legal risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Conducts legal due diligence for business transactions, mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships to ensure compliance and identify legal risks.
  • Consults on complex legal issues and litigation, coordinating externally with government bodies, regulatory agencies, and other external stakeholders when necessary to maintain positive relations and ensure compliance.
  • Applies highly developed research and analytical skills to interpret proposed and existing laws, statutes, and regulations, ensuring comprehensive legal understanding.

What you will need:

  • J.D. with active membership in at least one state bar.
  • 3-5 years of relevant prior in-house experience within a financial services and/or technology company is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, research, writing, and analytical skills, including drafting of advice, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced business environment and driving complex projects to completion.
  • Confident and proactive self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to provide sound legal advice, exercise good judgement, and work well with senior management and cross functional stakeholders.
