Job Summary:
The Consumer Science Department in the School of Human Ecology (SoHE) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for two open-rank, renewable, non-tenure-track Teaching Faculty positions. Rank is commensurate with the successful candidate's professional and teaching experience. More information about Teaching Faculty rank (I, II, or III) is available here: https://kb.wisc.edu/sohe/130059 Reporting to the Chair of Consumer Science, the Teaching Faculty members will have instructional (80%) and programmatic (20%) responsibilities, with a primary focus on consumer behavior and marketplace studies. The positions carry no research expectations and typically involve teaching four courses per semester (12 credits per semester; 24 credits annually). The successful candidates will develop and teach undergraduate courses in consumer behavior, marketplace studies, and related areas in both on-campus and online formats. Responsibilities include designing course content, preparing syllabi and learning objectives, creating and assessing student assignments, maintaining office hours, and supporting student learning and success. The Teaching Faculty will teach courses within the Consumer Behavior and Marketplace Studies program curriculum and related elective courses. We are seeking candidates who have expertise in at least one of the following subject areas: product development, business circularity and sustainability, consumer and brand engagement, strategic brand leadership, strategic business planning, design thinking, business consulting and client management, merchandising and retail innovation, consumer experience design, global consumer behavior, and related subjects. We do NOT expect candidates to have expertise in all of these areas, these represent topics covered throughout our program. In addition to teaching, these positions will support the undergraduate program through activities that enhance student experiential learning and professional development, including mentoring students, supporting conference participation and competitions, and contributing to departmental initiatives. Teaching assignments may be adjusted to accommodate programmatic responsibilities or other department priorities, as determined by the Department Chair. The successful candidates will be expected to maintain and continuously improve teaching effectiveness and remain flexible in meeting evolving departmental and program needs.
