Overview

Under the general direction of the perioperative support service ORA Supervisors or Manager or Clinical Service Manager and in cooperation with all the members of the patient care teams, performs a wide range of customer relations, environmental, patient care, and supply functions to fully support patient care activities. Although it is necessary to identify specific tasks relating to this position, the overriding responsibility is to integrate this role into the patient care model to ensure that the patient care team works for the good of the patient: other specific tasks may be added or deleted from the day -to-day operationalization of this position, as the patient care team adapts to the daily needs of the patients we serve . Demonstrates an outstanding commitment to excellent customer service. Patient and family centered care (PFCC) at YNHH is demonstrated by working with patients and their families based on the 4 principles of PFCC: participation, dignity and respect, information sharing, and collaboration. This includes providing service excellence by creating a great "First Impression" by demonstrating exemplary customer service skills for all customer groups including patients, families/friends, physicians, staff and support department personnel. Qualifications EDUCATION High School graduate or equivalent required. EXPERIENCE number of years and type required to meet an acceptable level of performance): Two (2) to three (3) years experience preferred in a service oriented department, preferably within the healthcare industry. Ability to adapt within a fast paced customer service environment. Knowledge of Perioperative Services department operations highly desired. Minimum eighteen months of experience in the Operating Room Associate position at Yale-New Haven Hospital. LICENSURE N/A SPECIAL SKILLS Heavy lifting ability. Physical stamina. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Proven organizational skills and ability to act proactively in performing job responsibilities. Friendly and cooperative attitude with patients and team members. PHYSICAL DEMAND Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. Ability to perform tasks of physical endurance and dexterity as required. Consistent use of proper body mechanics. All duties require pushing, pulling, lifting, bending and standing.
