- The role will translate business concepts into reusable semantic models, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and machine-readable ontologies, bridging business terminology with enterprise data assets and enabling governed knowledge discovery, analytics, and AI use cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain enterprise and domain-specific ontologies representing business concepts, entities, attributes, rules, and relationships.
- Develop semantic models, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, concept schemes, and knowledge models.
- Translate business definitions and domain knowledge into structured, machine-readable semantic models.
- Establish relationships among business glossaries, ontologies, metadata catalogs, logical models, and physical data assets.
- Define semantic standards, naming conventions, classifications, modeling principles, and reuse patterns.
- Map enterprise data assets and critical data elements to business concepts and ontology entities.
- Partner with business SMEs, Data Governance, Architecture, and engineering teams to define authoritative terminology and relationships.
- Develop and maintain ontology models using RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS, and SPARQL standards.
- Support knowledge graph implementations using graph and semantic technologies.
- Integrate ontology and semantic metadata with enterprise catalog and metadata-management platforms.
- Enable semantic search, data discovery, automated classification, contextualized data consumption, and knowledge-assisted analytics.
- Define ontology governance, validation, versioning, change management, and lifecycle-management processes.
- Collaborate with Data Lineage teams to connect business concepts to underlying data assets, transformations, and dependencies.
- Provide governed semantic context for GenAI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, AI agents, and enterprise knowledge applications.
- Facilitate workshops with business and technology stakeholders to capture concepts, relationships, and domain rules.

- Demonstrated experience in Data Architecture, Semantic Modeling, Ontology Engineering, Metadata Management, Knowledge Management, or Data Governance, with the depth of expertise required to independently design and implement enterprise or domain ontologies.
- Strong experience designing enterprise or domain ontologies and semantic models.
- Hands-on expertise with RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS, SPARQL, and established ontology-modeling practices.
- Strong understanding of knowledge graphs, semantic technologies, and graph-based information models.
- Experience developing taxonomies, business glossaries, controlled vocabularies, and metadata models.
- Understanding of conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling.
- Experience connecting business concepts with enterprise metadata and catalog platforms.
- Strong knowledge of metadata management, Data Governance, and data stewardship principles.
- Ability to lead modeling workshops with business SMEs and technical stakeholders.
