Coordinate athletic training services for student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletic programs - Olympic sports - with the University of Georgia Athletic Association (
UGAAA), under the medical direction of the head team physician and in conjunction with a variety of other healthcare providers as well as
UGAAA staff (including but not limited to athletic training, physical therapy, athletic coaching, strength and conditioning, sports nutrition, behavioral medicine, academics, and administration).
Olympic sports appointments include men's and women's swim/dive, men's and women's track and field/XC, soccer, softball, baseball, equestrian, men's and women's tennis, volleyball, and spirit.
Internships with the
UGA Athletic Association are a 12-month appointment starting July 1, 2025 ending on June 30, 2026.
Applicant review will begin in December and offers will be made in January.

Recognition, Evaluation and Management of Athletic Injuries:
1. Serve as athletic trainer for team(s) specified by director of sports medicine
a. Includes practice and competition coverage as well as travel responsibilities
2. Coordinate and supervise medical care for athletes as assigned by director of sports medicine
3. Initial assessment and treatment of athletic injuries
4. Physician referral as appropriate
a. Regular communication with primary care team physician
b. Communication with specialty team physicians as appropriate
5. Casting and splinting
6. Wound care, including removal of sutures and staples on MD order
7. Diagnostic testing appointments
8. Physician appointments
9. Use of therapeutic modalities and exercise |

1. Development and implementation of structured rehabilitation programs under MD supervision
a. Coordinate physician re-checks
b. Participate in rehabilitation progress updates weekly

2. Development of rehabilitation protocols
a. Coordinate rehabilitation director of rehabilitation
3. Use of therapeutic modalities and exercise
4. Coordination of physician re-checks

a. Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating pre-participation physical examinations for student-athletes

2. Preventative maintenance rehabilitation programs
3. Fitness assessments; physical conditioning of athletes
4. Fitting of protective equipment
