Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Medical Scribe plays a crucial role in supporting physicians by meticulously documenting the comprehensive details of a patient's visit as they occur. This position entails the accurate transcription of medical histories, examination observations, treatment plans, laboratory findings, and all pertinent patient care information. In addition, the Scribe is tasked with compiling and maintaining up-to-date patient records, ensuring a seamless integration of new data from each visit. The role also encompasses performing a variety of ancillary tasks as directed by the physician to facilitate efficient and quality patient care.


Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Proactively monitor performance metrics, collaborating with management to devise and implement corrective actions to address and uphold standards for departmental challenges.
  • Accurately transcribe comprehensive patient histories and document physical examination outcomes.
  • Efficiently manage transcription duties for a minimum of four patient consultations per hour.
  • Coordinate the facilitation of diagnostic evaluations and arrange referrals to medical specialists.
  • Support medical practitioners with administrative duties integral to patient care.
  • Uphold a professional atmosphere within the healthcare setting.
  • Diligently document patient histories, symptoms, physical exam findings, test results, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up steps.
  • Compile patient histories and physical examinations along with other relevant health data.
  • Ensure all patient documentation is organized and forwarded for physician review.
  • Execute all clerical and technical tasks associated with physician support in a clinical environment.
  • Proactively anticipate the physician's requirements to ensure a smooth clinical operation.
  • Record details of patient-physician interactions, including patient queries and concerns.
  • Maintain medical record integrity through detailed self-documentation and attestation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required

EXPERIENCE: Candidates for the Medical Scribe position must possess a minimum of 6 months of direct scribe experience. Preferred applicants have additional experience working in an Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) shelter, particularly with unaccompanied minors, to complement their understanding of clinical documentation and workflows in a sensitive and dynamic care environment. Preferred, Bilingual in Spanish

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion.

LICENSES: Driver's License with clear record.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates. Medical Scribe must be 21 years or older. Operational needs may require occasional evenings or weekend supervision. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.
