Our Savannah, GA office is actively searching for a Senior Marine Structural Engineer / Manager in to serve as a technical lead on waterfront structures projects. As the successful new hire, you will be actively engaged on large port development projects for the Georgia Ports Authority. This position will also work with teams across the company on a variety of structural projects related to marine and transportation infrastructure engineering.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Establish Design Standards: Develop and maintain standards for the design of marine structures and foundations, utilizing various materials including cast-in-place and prestressed concrete, steel, and timber
  • Project Leadership: Lead the technical aspects of projects with construction costs ranging from $5.0M to $150M, ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, and schedule
  • Technical Oversight: Provide guidance and technical leadership to junior staff members within the structural team, ensuring adherence to industry best practices
  • Collaboration: Interface and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers to ensure seamless integration of structural design within overall project objectives
  • Structural Analysis and Design: Conduct structural analysis and design, perform thorough QA/QC reviews, and prepare project deliverables including plans, calculations, specifications, estimates, reports, and memorandums
  • Business Development: Contribute to proposals and business development activities, fostering relationships with new and existing clients to identify and pursue opportunities for growth
  • Committee Involvement: Participate in technical committees both internally and externally, representing Moffatt & Nichol and contributing expertise to industry discussions and advancements
  • Training and Development: Actively participate in the training and mentorship of junior staff members, supporting their professional growth and development within the Company
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality reviews of deliverables, serving as a Senior Technical Reviewer to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements
  • Client Interaction: Engage directly with clients, providing technical expertise, addressing concerns, and building strong relationships to enhance client satisfaction and project success

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required with ability to gain license in the State of Georgia within 6 months of hire
  • Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on marine/waterfront projects
  • Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) certification in the Port Engineering category preferred
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, or similar
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire

Working conditions:

Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment. Light travel may be required.
