Required Qualifications:
* Ph.D. or Masters with equivalent experience in Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline.
* At least 1 year of experience in bioinformatics research.
* Quantitative training with good understanding of probability, statistics and optimization.
* Proven expertise in the implementation and testing of algorithms.
* Strong programming skills in R or Python.
* Familiarity with data science and visualization libraries in R or Python.
* Experience with GitHub, conda environment and Containers (e.g. docker).
* Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Experience with communicating results and concepts with a diverse audience including molecular biologists and laboratory scientists.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
* Familiarity with common NGS analysis tools.
* Familiarity with tensorflow and/or pytorch.
* Demonstrated ability to design and implement machine learning techniques and algorithms.
* Demonstrated expertise in the Linux computing environment.
* Excellent planning, organization and execution skills.
* Positive attitude and good interpersonal skills.
* Ability to prepare manuscripts for presentation and publication.

Description:
The Lillehei Heart Institute is a premier institute at the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis with state of the art technologies and core facilities focused on the molecular regulation of myogenesis, stem cell and regenerative biology. We are accepting applications for highly motivated computational biologists to develop novel bioinformatic and computational methods for understanding the dynamic gene regulations and lineage hierarchies during cardiac, endothelial and hematopoietic development.

Responsibility:
* Develop or integrate novel statistical methods and algorithms for analyzing large-scale -omics data, including gene regulatory network inference, cell lineage reconstruction, multi-dimensional data integration and etc.
* Discuss with the laboratory members in bioinformatics analysis as needed.
* Maintaining an active role in research of the current trends in bioinformatics, and using new technologies to prototype future development.
* Help researchers prepare manuscripts (write relevant sections and make figures) and presentations.

Pay Range: Depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
