The Department of Pharmacy, consistent with the mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine, places a priority on teaching, research and patient care. At Johns Hopkins Hospital, the department is responsible for providing acute care pharmacy services for a diverse population of medical and surgical patients, with additional services provided within the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center and affiliated clinics. Within the department, there are 45 acute care and primary care clinical pharmacy specialists as well as 31 general and specialized pharmacy residents.

The Clinical Pharmacist II in Neurology provides clinical pharmacy services for the patients on Zayed 12 including the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, Brain Rescue Unit, and Neuro IMC beds serving as the drug expert helping to manage the complex pharmacotherapy regimen of each patient. The clinical pharmacist actively manages and adjusts medication therapies via drug therapy management agreements with prescribers and helps manage drug costs by ensuring formulary and stewardship guidelines are followed. Responsibilities for the position include: comprehensive medication management, interdisciplinary decision making, emergency code response, care coordination, education, policy/procedure development, and research activities. They will provide drug information and education to patients, students, residents, pharmacists, and other health care practitioners.

Minimum Qualifications:




  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in Pharm D. or BS degree.
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited residency program or equivalent experience is required.
  • Current licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland required.
  • Board Certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties or a certification deemed appropriate for the practitioner's practice setting by Division Director is required within 2 years of start date.
  • Hospital and departmental education requirements completed within 90 days of hire. ACLS and/or PALS certification is desired.

Salary Range: Minimum 53.79 per hour - Maximum 88.82 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
