  • The Clinical Program Supervisor has accountability for the Behavioral Health Therapy and the Clinical Supervisor teams under the direction of the department Manager. The Clinical Supervisor Team will be defined per department manager. This position is accountable for therapy programing, including involvement of other department staff in the delivery of programing, with the support of the Manager and Medical Director.
  • The Clinical Program Supervisor utilizes advanced clinical expertise and evidence-based approaches to provide clinical leadership to the entire team on their respective department. This includes management of the clinically focused aspects of staff education and new employee orientation. It also includes development and maintenance of clinical programing and patient educational programs, and clinical coaching of the staff providing these services.
  • The Clinical Program Supervisor assists the Manager in maintaining regulatory compliance through policy review, revision, and development.
  • This position is accountable to provide and/or arrange clinical supervision for in-training therapists.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Provides advanced clinical leadership to the interdisciplinary team in conjunction with the Medical Director, and in coordination with the Manager. This includes demonstrating and promoting evidence-based approaches with individual staff members to enhance understanding. It also includes evaluating program offerings for relevance and modifying accordingly.
  • Leads clinical staffing meetings.
  • Provides advanced clinical leadership to the Clinical Supervisor team. This includes the maintenance, development, and tracking of the clinical supervision program for all members of the Behavioral Health Therapist and Clinical Coordinator teams.
  • Plans annual and orientation educations in conjunction with the Manager and Medical Director, incorporating data from staff learning needs assessment, clinic initiatives and regulatory requirements
  • Provides the clinical aspects of new employee orientation within a format that has been established in conjunction with the Manager
  • Coordinates and evaluates effectiveness of de-escalation training
  • Provides consultation to the management team related to accreditation standards, staff orientation, hiring, and staff performance evaluations.
  • Assists the Manager and Medical Director to ensure clinic safety.
  • Directly supervises their designated staff and the programs they offer. This includes hiring, orienting, scheduling, payroll management, competency development, and performance evaluation. This occurs in coordination with the Manager who maintains overall leadership for all clinic staff.
  • Evaluates and modifies (if necessary) the proper design, mix, and quality of therapeutic program offerings in keeping with evidence-based practices.
  • Uses patient feedback to enhance the patient experience by working with the Manager and Medical Director to give feedback to staff, modify the physical environment, and modify group experiences as needed.
  • Develops policies and procedures with clinical content, in keeping with evidence-based practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Co-leads/observes patient therapy groups on a regular basis, and in doing so, provides expert clinical feedback to staff.
  • May facilitate consultation with outpatient systems regarding complex cases.
  • Coordinates care per applicable Department of Health Services (DHS) chapter as appropriate for the setting per the direction of the manager.
  • Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Master of Science or Master of Arts degree from accredited school of:
  1. Social Work (clinical track);
  2. Psychology;
  3. Counseling; orMarriage and Family Counseling
  • 3 - 5 years of clinical experience with individuals with substance use disorders and/or mental illness.
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons AND Full Mental Health Licensure in State of Wisconsin (LCSW, LPC, LMFT).
  • Skilled in collecting diagnostic information
  • Able to assess and recommend levels of care based on American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria
  • Skilled in Case Management
  • Experience with individual, family, and group therapies
  • Familiarity with addiction recovery process and symptoms of relapse.
  • Able to utilize evidence-based psychotherapy interventions, such as: motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, mindfulness, dialectical behavioral therapy, and 12-step facilitation.
  • Ability to handle situations and patients who may experience labile moods
  • Ability to practice cultural humility and work with a diverse population of clients and staff, including using an interpreter.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with adolescents and adults.
  • Experience and skill in working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate other problem solving, conflict resolution and effective communication skills.
  • Crisis intervention management skills.
  • Basic, nontechnical knowledge of psychotropic and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) medications.
  • Able to work independently as well as within a team.
Preferred:
  • Minimum of 360 hours of specialized mental health or substance use disorder education as outlined in WI Statutes SPS 161 or MPSW4, 12 or Psy 2.
  • Clinical Supervisor Substance Abuse Certification
  • Substance Abuse Certification (SAC or CSAC)
  • Familiarity with:
    • Community based support groups
    • WI Department of Health Services Chapter 75, "Community Substance Abuse Service Standards"
    • Electronic Health Records
    • Crisis Prevention/Intervention techniques.
    • Administration of Narcan.
