We are actively seeking a CAD Drafter with at least 10 years of experience for our Seattle, Federal Way, Long Beach, Costa Mesa, Baltimore, Honolulu, The Woodlands (located near Houston), Lake Mary, Norfolk or San Diego offices. The successful new hire will model geometry and develop drawings using Revit and AutoCAD for the purpose of design, construction, planning, permitting, and report documents. Projects include structural infrastructure related to ports and harbors, shipyards, coastal, environmental, water resources, urban waterfronts and marinas.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare and revise drawings (plans, details, exhibits, and as-builts) for structural projects (waterfront structures, buildings, etc.) using various materials and design standards
  • Manage the production of complete sets of engineering drawings using Revit and AutoCAD, ensuring high-quality product
  • Collaborate with consultants and other Moffatt & Nichol staff as needed to produce deliverables
  • Develop structural Revit models with direction from engineering staff, ensuring consistency with standards and best practices
  • Coordinate models between disciplines, including but not limited to; structural, architectural, MEP and civil
  • Set-up and implement project CADD/BIM standards and consider new methods and processes to enhance productivity and improve operations
  • Assist in providing training and mentoring to other technicians as required

Qualifications:

  • 2-year Technical or Associates degree from an accredited college in a related discipline.
  • 10 or more years of structural drafting and modeling experience using Revit (required) and AutoCAD (strong plus)
  • Experience on structural projects related to ports and harbors, shipyards, coastal, environmental, water resources, urban waterfronts and marinas; preferred
  • Working knowledge of CADD/BIM standards and their implementation
  • Understanding general design concepts and construction methods for concrete, steel and timber structures
  • Proven ability in a technical lead role collaborating with large teams
  • Good analytical thinking, problem solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Possess good organization and time management skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Experience working on marine structures is preferred, but experience on other structural projects will be considered
  • Working experience with Revit Structure and AutoCAD is required
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Base salary range:

$104,560 to $127,796 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the California markets.

Working conditions:

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
