Administers human resources policies and procedures that pertain to employee relations. Researches and analyzes data, provides management with reports on any employee relations issues and possible resolutions. Performs employee counseling, equal employment opportunity, disability services, and labor relations. Investigates and documents employee complaints and disputes and recommend appropriate course of action. Educates new and current employees on employee relations policies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides counseling to employees and management related to the interpretation of hospital policies, procedures and practices regarding employee corrective action, performance evaluations and other human resource issues.
  2. Investigates and executes employee relations complaints, prepares documentation and provides recommendations for corrective action.
  3. Address leader and employee-initiated complaints in accordance with HR policies.
  4. Reviews rehire status, background reports with Coordinator/Manager/Director.
  5. Ensures hospital compliance with applicable state and federal regulations for areas of responsibility.
  6. Lead and facilitate climate surveys for internal department concerns.
  7. Provides assistance with the preparation of documents and other responses to employee related concerns as well as EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) and other litigation activities.
  8. Responsible for recommending reassignments to the light duty pool.
  9. Recommend Performance Improvement Plans as well as Clinical Improvement Plans.
  10. Provide consultation to leaders or interpretation of HR policies.
  11. 11. Escalate leader, employee and executive initiated complaints to Employee Relations Leadership and legal as necessary.
  12. Responsible for promoting a positive employee experience.
  13. Primary Employee Relations contact for the organization. Maintain detailed case notes for possible legal actions.
  14. Participate in continued education courses/webinars regarding employment laws.
  15. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injuryaccident to Manager.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. Bachelor Degree in Business Administration/related field and 4-6 years of direct Employee Relations experience.
  2. 2-5 years' experience in a Supervisory or Management capacity in lieu of Employee Relations experience.
  3. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and software applications.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with computers and word processing systems
  2. Certification in Human Resources through workshops, seminar, or coursework
