Position Description Summary:
The Executive Associate Dean serves as the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the operational functions that enable the execution of the strategic plan and achievement of the school's goals and mission. The Executive Associate Dean is a member of the Dean's senior leadership team and is responsible for the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the organization by being responsible for the development, design, operation, and improvement of the systems that will lead to the full execution of the strategic plan. Collaboration with all members of the SON's leadership is an integral part of this role. The Executive Associate Dean may act on behalf of the Dean as delegated. This is a full-time, 12-month non-tenured faculty at the Associate or Professor rank, with a start date as early as July 2025. We welcome applicants with advanced practice certification.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
* Serves as a direct liaison between the academic and administrative functions of the SON by identifying the resources required for implementation of the strategic plan and potential obstacles that need to be addressed.
* Cascades the school's mission statement throughout the school for maximal alignment and develops appropriate recognition and coaching practices to align personnel with school goals.
* Drives performance measures for the operation of the strategic plan, often in the form of dashboards convenient for review of high-level key indicators.

  • Ensures SON policies and practices are established and implemented and are compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, and University policies and procedures.


* Facilitates the operational activities of the Associate Deans for Prelicense/Baccalaureate programs, Graduate Clinical programs, PhD program, and the Associate Deans for Practice and Community Engagement, Research and Health Policy & Population Science.
* In collaboration with the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, Finance manager and HR partners works with unit leaders in the management of resources, as well as the development and execution of unit budgets.
* Collaborates with other SON leaders on pertinent issues and activities that span the tripartite mission.
* Participate with other campus academic officers in the development of university- wide academic priorities and goals and in the implementation of inter-disciplinary programs to achieve defined ends; serves on committees and councils of the School, the University and other agencies and organizations.
Minimum Qualifications:
* An earned doctoral degree in nursing or a health-related field
* Prior academic administrative experience with evidence of increasing administrative responsibility
* Prior organizational and/or program planning experience
* Prior experiences with organizational strategic planning and implementation
* At least five years of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
* Experience with curriculum development and revision
* Experience with accreditation self-study and preparation of reports for boards of Nursing, accreditors, and regulatory agencies.
* Evidence of ability to advance diversity, equity and inclusion efforts through teaching, research/scholarship and/or service
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Eligibility for RN licensure in the District of Columbia and Virginia.
Advertised Salary: $175,000 to $225,000
