Position Summary
The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is currently seeking a board certified or board eligible Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician to fill an fixed term, Clinical Assistant Professor position starting in December 2024. We are fortunate to be located in an excellent academic medical center on a vibrant college campus in a wonderful area of the country. The Triangle area of North Carolina is known for Carolina Blue skies, temperate weather,some of the best food in the country and a dynamic arts and sports scene. Both the mountains and the beach are easily accessible by car.
The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is a growing and integral part of the Department of Pediatrics. Our Department and Division take pride in offering multiple opportunities for faculty development and in fostering strong mentoring relationships throughout the University and Medical Center. All division faculty members are expected to perform scholarly work to enhance the academic mission of the division.

Clinical responsibilities include direct patient care in the 12-bed Pediatric Emergency Department ( PED) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, as well as occasionally in our rapidly growing full-service Children's Urgent Care in Raleigh. Teaching and supervising residents and learners from various healthcare professions is expected at both locations.

The UNC PED is a southeast regional referral center for both routine and complex pediatric emergency care and is a major gateway to the facilities and services of the NC Children's Hospital. About one- third of all patients admitted to the NC Children's Hospital enter through our emergency department. Expert clinicians representing the full complement of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties are available 24/7 for consultations. The UNC Emergency Department is designated as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center - one of two in the state and the only one in the Triangle area. As such, pediatric patients with traumatic injuries of varying severity are referred to the Pediatric Emergency Department at UNC from around the state for care. The Children's Urgent Care in Raleigh is the only dedicated pediatric urgent care in the UNC system. It offers full-service Children's Urgent Care in Raleigh from 4 pm until midnight weekdays and noon until midnight on the weekends. With on-site lab and radiology services the team is able to diagnose and treat a wide variety of urgent pediatric illnesses and injuries.

Experienced Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians, as well as soon to graduate PEM fellows are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidates will have strong clinical skills. Demonstrated expertise in quality and process improvement and/or clinical guideline development is a plus. Competitive salaries are commensurate with experience.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Ideal candidates will have strong clinical skills. Demonstrated expertise in quality and process improvement and/or clinical guideline development is a plus.
