Clinical Manager I - Takoma Theater (DC) & Annapolis (MD)

Description

All nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, CNMC Policies and Procedures, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Professional Model of Care requires registered professional nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. CNMC supports the development of RN relationships within the community; specifically those relationships associated with the health and well being of the community at large.

The Clinical Manager I will oversee Takoma Theater (DC) and Annapolis regional outpatient center locations under the supervision of the Nurse Manager.


Qualifications Minimum Education
BSN (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
5 years Nursing experience. Demonstrated experience in a charge nurse role in a comparable setting. Minimum of one-year recent pediatric experience in a comparable setting. Minimum of 1 year of demonstrated nursing leadership experience. (Required)

Functional Accountabilities
Professional Practice/Research
  • Participate in/support Shared Leadership.
  • Contribute to CNMC's Magnet Journey.
  • Ensure that nursing is based on evidence of best practice.
  • Accountable to support/participate the Division of Nursing's Performance Improvement process.
  • Participate in community activities.
Implements Nursing Process
  • Function as a resource in the charge nurse role for all aspects of patient care delivery.
  • Continuously evaluate patient care delivered to all patients and families.
  • Maintain knowledge and responsibility for patients on the unit.
  • Assume direct patient care responsibility as needed, to meet identified patient care needs.
Communication Channels
  • Utilizes therapeutic communication when dealing with patients and families.
  • Demonstrates skillful communication by adapting techniques based on the situation.
  • Collaborates with staff, patients/families, and members of the health care team to facilitate patient outcomes.
  • Written communication reflects clear concise, goal directed, and objective information.
  • Leads hospital/division projects or committees.
Leadership
  • Manage conflict effectively by giving feedback in a constructive, positive, and objective manner.
  • Assist staff in conflict resolution.
  • Assist staff to evaluate their own behavior and its impact on others.
  • Organize unit operations for the delivery of patient care and identified outcomes.
  • Prioritize and direct unit to ensure quality care.
  • Facilitate changes by actively participating in the change process.
  • Maintain and encourage unit cohesiveness by maintaining a productive work atmosphere.
  • Support staff through stressful situations.
  • Commend work efforts of staff.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to problem solve unit issues.
  • Complete performance evaluations for assigned staff in a timely manner.
  • Plan activities to meet own educational needs.

  • Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation
  • Stop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situation
