YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE We are looking for a Chemist III in 3600 Eagle Nest Dr, North Building, Crete, IL 60417 USA. Your mission will be to: The incumbent is responsible for performing chemical analysis on food, pharmaceutical, and other sample. The incumbent analyzes the concentration of certain components in food samples. The incumbent must accurately prepare and process the sample to obtain the required results. The incumbent observes daily activities of departmental personnel ranging from receiving to reporting of results and ensures that analysis is performed correctly. Main activities: * Performs high end analyses with instrumentation (GCMS, LCMS, HS-LCMS, etc.) autonomously * Utilize various instruments such as LCMS, GCMS, HPLC, ICP, ICPMS, and GC to determine concentration of desired balances in the food sample. * This position has the responsibilities and authority to identify departures from the quality system or test procedures and document such observation accordance with the prescribed complaint system. * Provide guidance to departmental personnel on analysis procedures and correct preparation of sample. * Read, calculate and record analysis data to produce a report for the client. Responsible for correcting any discrepancies that occur. * Evaluate current methods and recommend modifications to laboratory personnel and management as new procedures become available. Educate and train technicians on correct procedures and new analysis methods. * This position has the responsibility and authority to initiate action to prevent or minimize departures from the quality system or test procedures. * Able to perform method validations and verifications without input from supervisor. * Communicate procedural and operational difficulties and delays to client service personnel as required. * Provide courteous client service and communicate any emerging client requirements to the laboratory as needed. * Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that is required to complete job responsibilities. * Prepare materials and sample for analysis and perform sample analysis. * Prepare standards or reagents that are needed for the analysis procedure. * Maintain laboratory instruments in working order and make any minor repairs that are necessary. * May include review of data and approval of results. * Must keep up-to-date with assigned training. * Responsibility to support laboratory management in the implementation maintenance, and improvement of the management system. * Perform other related tasks as needed YOUR PROFILE The incumbent must have a basic knowledge of chemistry to accurately perform testing procedures and obtain accurate results. Profile (required education/qualifications and professional background): Basic knowledge of food science is helpful to analyze the chemical content of sample. A broad knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies is necessary to ensure a safe working environment. Bachelors degree and 5-7 years relevant work experience, or Masters degree and 1-2 years relevant work experience. Required skills: Five plus years experience in Chemistry lab environment, or equivalent Chemistry degree. This position requires an advanced knowledge of chemistry to perform analyses, obtain correct results and interpret data. An advanced knowledge of instrumentation and theory including, but not limited to, HPLC, GC, and ICP is helpful. Work Environment: The incumbent works in a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. Safety equipment of gloves, laboratory coat and eyeglasses may need to be worn depending on the testing process. The incumbent may use the autoclave daily to complete the analysis process. Continuous lifting of analysis materials weighing up to 50 pounds are necessary to transport media materials. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position.
