Position Summary

The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications forAssistant Professor of Occupational Therapy and Doctoral Capstone Coordinator.

The University of Southern Indiana seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track, 12-month Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy and Doctoral Capstone Coordinator (DCC). This position is housed at the Stone Family Center for Health Sciences in downtown Evansville, Indiana. The appointment will begin September 1, 2024 or when position is filled. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and position.

This posting will run concurrently with a Clinical Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy and Doctoral Capstone Coordinator - 493394 posting. However, only one position exists, and one candidate will be hired across these postings depending upon applicants received. Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching, curriculum/course development, academic advising, and engaging in scholarship and professional activities related to the discipline. Additional responsibilities include performing in-service activities at the university, program, community and professional levels; participating at the national and state level in professional organizations and activities; and working with our capstone partners.

Doctoral Capstone Coordinator responsibilities involve maintaining the program's compliance with all capstone requirements to include overall development, refinement and management of the Doctoral Experiential Component - Capstone of the doctoral curriculum including site recruitment, supervisor education, site visitation, student placement, student advisement, conflict resolution and program evaluation.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Minimum qualifications:



  • Hold a doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency.
  • Be an occupational therapist who is licensed in the state of Indiana.
  • Have 3 years of combined documented experience in the field of occupational therapy that must include:

    • Clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist.
    • Teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level.
    • Scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning).




Preferred Knowledge and Skills

Prior experience coordinating doctoral experiential components (i.e., capstones or fieldwork) in an OTD program is preferred.
