Emergency Medicine Physician (SMG) Southern Acute Resources Group (ARG)

WVU Medicine, West Virginia University Health System Medical Group (WVUHS Medical Group) is actively recruiting Emergency Medicine Physicians to join our Acute Resource Group (ARG). The ARG is an internal group of mobile physicians that supports our system Emergency Departments throughout West Virginia and Pennsylvania with potential expansion to additional states in the future. The ARG Emergency Medicine Physicians cover acute needs in our system Emergency Departments ensuring consistent, high-quality care. All assigned facilities currently utilize Epic Electronic Medical System (or will be adopting Epic within the next 12 months).

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Emergency Medicine in various WVU Health System Emergency Departments covering; Bluefield, Braxton, Princeton, Summersville, and Thomas Hospitals.

Qualifications: M.D. or D.O. degree or foreign equivalent. Board Certified/Eligible and residency trained in Emergency Medicine preferred but will consider physicians trained and board certified/eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with experience. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid state license number. Qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

The Department of Emergency Medicine has over 200 full-time members across diverse practice sites. There are additional career opportunities for Emergency Medicine physicians looking for a variety of clinical experiences anchored by an academic affiliation to WVU's School of Medicine.

The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia's largest health system and the state's largest employer. The System has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others. The Health System operates West Virginia's first and only multi-organ transplant center, and opened a new, 150-bed Children's Hospital in September 2022.

Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Citizens of Bluefield enjoy a special quality of life which is guaranteed through easy access to healthcare, a great education system, athletic programs, municipal services, churches, a wide variety of activities, and a beautiful nature to explore. The typical vibrant spring colors, delightful summers, magnificent fall foliage, and hints of snow make Bluefield a beautiful place to stay all year long. With one of the lowest crime rates in the region, the city of Bluefield provides a secure location for developing families, a comfortable home for the elderly, and worthy of settlement by industry and new citizens alike. Affordability of housing is one of the most attractive features of the area and covers the spectrum from apartment and townhouse rentals to new construction and subdivisions to historic homes.

Braxton County Memorial. Hospital. Established in 1981, Braxton County Memorial Hospital is a non-profit, critical access hospital that serves Braxton County, as well as parts of Clay, Gilmer, Lewis, Nicholas, and Webster counties. The hospital is located in Gassaway, West Virginia, and is conveniently accessible from I-79. Braxton County Memorial Hospital offers 24-hour emergency care, as well as inpatient care, respite care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, and home health. Outpatient primary care and women's health services are available in Braxton Community Health Center. Braxton County is located in the heart of West Virginia and surrounded by the cool and pristine waters flowing from the mountains. These waters provide world-class outdoor recreational activities, such as whitewater rafting on the Gauley or New River Gorge, boating, fishing, swimming, and kayaking on Burnsville Lake, Summersville Lake, and Sutton Lake, and hiking along the Muddlety Creek Trail.

Princeton Community Hospital. Princeton Community Hospital is proudly located in the heart of Mercer County, West Virginia, an area rich in culture, history, and natural beauty. The city of Princeton offers progressive development in a fine community where families can live safely and serenely. They are preparing this city to be an asset for future generations, to provide a secure home for developing families, a comfortable haven for the elderly, and a location worthy of settlement by industry and new citizens alike.

Summersville Regional Medical Center. Summersville Regional Medical Center (SRMC) provides acute, emergency, outpatient, clinic, and long-term care to the residents of Central West Virginia. SRMC has 49 acute beds and employs more than 500 people. It offers a complete array of services, including surgical; outpatient and inpatient laboratory; inpatient and public pharmacies; imaging services; including CT and MRI; physical and cardiac rehab; outpatient infusion; respiratory therapy; and inpatient hospitalist. WVU Medicine Children's has provided pediatric specialty outreach clinics at SRMC for several years. The city of Summerville is located in the heart of West Virginia and surrounded by the cool and pristine waters flowing from the mountains. These waters provide world class outdoor recreational activities, such as white water rafting on the Gauley or New River Gorge, boating at Summersville Lake, and hiking along the Muddlety Creek. Summersville is also located in close proximity to The Greenbrier Resort.

Thomas Memorial Hospital. Thomas Memorial Hospital is in West Virginia's capital city of Charleston and is perfectly positioned at the confluence of the Kanawha and Elk rivers. There are also three major interstates converge, making it a highly accessible destination for visitors looking for an affordable getaway. Charleston boasts the history you would expect of a capital city, but a growing arts scene and its riverside position makes it a hub for recreation and culture, too.
