Perioperative Services encompasses several key areas that ensure safe and efficient surgical care, including:
 
 Pre-Admission Testing
 
 Preoperative Unit - 16 bays
 
 Operating Room - 3 ORs and 1 C-Section Room
 
 Special Procedures Unit - 3 procedure rooms
 
 PACU/Recovery - 9 bays
 
 Central Sterile Processing - instrument preparation and sterilization
 
 We perform surgical procedures in multiple specialties, including Cardiovascular, ENT, General Surgery, GI, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pain Management, Pulmonology, and Urology. Currently, we serve approximately 350 patients per month.

 Position Summary:
 
 The Nurse Clinician is a clinical expert responsible for the comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with complex health needs in the perioperative setting. This role supports the healthcare team in:
 
 Preventing illness and injury
 
 Promoting wellness
 
 Providing comfort and compassionate care
 
 The Nurse Clinician provides leadership, education, and direction within the Perioperative Services department, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care. Responsibilities include:
 
 Facilitating professional development and empowerment of nursing staff
 
 Overseeing program development, implementation, and evaluation
 
 Managing resources effectively to achieve optimal outcomes in quality, efficiency, and cost
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state
  Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current RN Licensure in Virginia AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
  Experience REQUIRED: 5 years nursing experience required Minimum of one year experience in the position's specialty patient population or practice setting
  Experience PREFERRED: Experience in staff education and professional development (orientation, preceptorship, in-services education, etc.) Academic health care experience
  Education/training REQUIRED:  Bachelor's degree in nursing. Must be enrolled in a Master's degree program at the time of application and must be complete within 36 months of hire. Special consideration will be given for applicants enrolled in Baccalaureate to Doctoral programs who will not attain a Master's degree and may require longer than 36 months to complete the terminal degree. 
  Education/training PREFERRED: Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field. If the master's degree is not in Nursing, then it is required to have a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
  Independent action(s) required: Has full authority and accountability for direction and leadership of program planning, guideline development, setting of practice standards within the confines of organizations/divisions/units mission, goals and objectives. Manages human, fiscal and other resources to ensure quality programs/processes/services with measurable positive outcomes.
  Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): Negotiable with immediate supervisor in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
  Additional position requirements: Will generally work day shift, but may require flexibility for special projects or to meet organization and staff needs.
