The Chair will lead the Department of Pediatrics but will also be accountable as the Chair of Pediatrics in RWJUH, the Bristol-Meyers Squibb Children's Hospital Pediatrician-in-Chief, the RWJBH lead for pediatric academic development, and the champion of the health and wellbeing of all children. The Department of Pediatrics is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in education, research, health care delivery, and the promotion of community health to enhance its regional and national impact. The Chair is responsible for the growth and advancement of clinical, research and teaching excellence in the Department as well as academic and clinical planning, philanthropic growth and resource management. The Chair will have accountability for clinical programs, the Department's clinical services, its operational performance, and growth. They will work through collaboration to enhance the alignment and working relationships to advance the delivery of efficient, high quality pediatric services across the System.
The Chair will oversee the leadership of the Department, to include direct oversight of the financial and human resources. They will formulate and execute, along with the Dean, a strategic plan to lead multidisciplinary clinical growth designed to enhance translational, clinical and outcomes research. This leader will work to develop key institutional partnerships and strategic relationships to define and acutely pursue clinical and research goals. The Chair will strive to strengthen the academic mission and clinical excellence of the Department with recruitment, retention, development and support of outstanding clinical faculty and staff. The enhancement of diversity and inclusion among faculty, staff and trainees is vital.
The Chair is the educational leader of the Department and is expected to embody the importance of the educational mission. The leader will support an excellent teaching environment for the students, residents, and fellows training within the Department. The Chair must also ensure successful ACGME accreditation for the residencies and fellowships. The recruitment of high caliber residents and fellows is expected as this will only be achieved by fostering an excellent educationally stimulating environment with balanced service and education.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
M.D. or D.O. degree with subspecialty training and board certification in pediatrics.
* Eligible for licensure in New Jersey.
* Academic credentials commensurate with appointment at the rank of Professor with a track record of achievement in team building, leadership, managerial and strategic thinking.
* A national reputation in Pediatrics, a distinguished record of scholarly research activity, teaching, and clinical care.
* Demonstrated success as a leader in a department or Division of Pediatrics, of an interdisciplinary institute, or of an academic entity of comparable size and scope.
* Strong performance as a skilled manager and leader with the ability to grow revenues, meet budgets, measure, improve productivity and outcomes, develop others, work collaboratively among disparate groups to achieve goals.
* Evidence of and passion for successful fundraising for the department and child health.
* An astute understanding of an academic clinical practice and a deep commitment to clinical excellence based on a patient-centered model of care.
* Experience in developing business models, network development and managing a viable a clinical practice across pediatric subspecialties.
* Commitment to the missions of education, discovery, patient care and community engagement that drive academic clinicians and the important symbiotic relationship of one with the other.
