The Department of Family Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School is currently recruiting candidates for Assistant Professor and Physician Specialist ranks in our department.

We are seeking a Family Medicine Physician in the rank of Assistant Professor to join as core faculty in the department to provide primary care at the New Jersey Family Practice Center and Student Health Services in Newark, NJ. Candidates will support inquiry into the structural, systemic, institutional, and individual effects of racism and discrimination. Excellent candidates will have a record of serving patients to overcome inequity and social justice barriers.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
MD or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
ABFM Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine
Credential Required: Licensed, or eligible, by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners
Current
DEA and
CDS Registration
Ability to type and use a computer to enter in the Electronic Medical Records
Manual dexterity and mobility for charting (typing)
Ability to handle emergency and crisis situations
Must exhibit flexibility to work in a variety of settings

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
Duties and Responsibilities included but not limited to the following:
- Conduct age appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination in accordance with current standards of professional practice, regulatory requirements and agency policies and procedures.
- Perform assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy.
- Assesses patients' conditions and age-specific medical needs; sets goals and prescribes appropriate clinical interventions to meet these goals.
- Prescribes appropriate laboratory and diagnosis procedures related to patients' health status and facilitates appropriate treatment intervention predicated on results of these procedures.
- Provider shall provide direct clinical care to all patients assigned to Provider in accordance with applicable standards of care.
- Provider will be required to maintain certain good citizenship standards designed to optimize patient care and service and the smooth operation of the Center. Such standards include but are not limited to the following: Accommodating walk-in patients, arriving for office sessions on time and remaining throughout each session, engaging in teamwork with the support staff, following procedures and practice guidelines, e.g., appropriate clinical charting with complete notes and up-to-date problem and medication lists, timely completion of encounter forms.
- Provider will be required to participate on a rotating basis in the 24 hour on-call phone coverage arrangement that is unit/site-specific.
- Provider shall meet specialty and site-specific defined productivity expectations.
- At all times, Provider shall accurately and timely complete any paperwork necessary to facilitate billing and reimbursement.
